Removing Front Brake Pads . . . Easy Question

    Easy Question here . . .

On the front brakes: are the two hex bolts on the back side of the caliper what I need to remove to get the caliper off and access the pads?

And, any tips on just how to do this without breaking a knuckle?

You need to remove the 19mm bolts that hold the caliper on.

Ok, help me out here. There are no 19mm bolts there.

I did use the wrong temrminology earlier.

What I meant ask: are the Socket Head Cap Screws on the back of the caliper what I need to unscrew?

Or are the two hex head bolts (larger than 19mm) what I need to unscrew (that look to me like they hold the entire wheel assembly together).

You have to excuse me, I work much better with exploded view drawings (I draw them for a living, lol).

Re: Removing Front Brake Pads . . . Easy Question

Use the writeup. There are only two guide pins (look like bolts) you have to remove because it is a floating caliper assembly. Remove the two pins, then shimmy the caliper off
    Ignorance is bliss.

My caliper has 4 bolts total per side, im pretty sure yours does as well and there is plenty of room, you wont break any knuckles.

Those dust caps are what threw me off . . . this is why I ask, because I would have been removing the wrong bolts.

I'm just trying to get in there to clean them and apply a little disc brake quite because they've been squeaking, but there's still plenty of pad left (25k miles).
