    Stock exhaust question (01 A8L)

I haven't been under the car yet in quite a while, (i saw it when it was on the lift about a year ago or so) but i imagine it is similar to our 4motion passat - but rather than replacing the stock exhaust for right now... would replacing any resonators w/ straight pipe even be worth the effort? or at least replacing the mufflers with something a bit more open flowing

i have a very competent (and cheap) local shop that has done that for me on some other cars... and it's worked out rather well, in opening up the restrictiveness (at least it seemed like it) plus changed the exhaust tone a bit.

the last thing i want to do, is make it sound like crap... but a bit deeper, and a bit louder couldn't hurt anything

    by the way - it's on an 01 a8l w/ the 4.2

right now, mods are either non-existant, or very low budget, as i dont have thousands to play with for "fun things"

yea, i think you're thinking about doing the same thing I wanted to do. Best bet from what I've learned and from reviewing vids on youtube of other setups here and in Germany... For a cheap option, we can have the front resonator straight-piped and then replace the stock H-pipe with an X-pipe or balanced pipe to clean up the sound. (H-piped it sounds like an american race car; x-piped it sounds like a beautiful purrr lol)

nothing wrong with an american racecar.... had we not bought this, there would most likely be a fox body sitting in the driveway right now.

i'll have to do some youtube searching then i guess
