Trans Fluid Low but no leak?

i have a 2000 audi a4 2.8 quattro auto, my transmission was hitting into gear hard to i took it into a well known transmission shop and they said that the car was 2 and half quarts low so they filled it and cleaned the transmission pan and did not notice any leaks. they said to drive it around for a couple of days and bring it back. I haven't taken it back yet and was wondering what you guys thought might be the problem. Thanks!

Hard to believe it could lose 2+qts and not have a visible leak. Check the coolant to be sure it did not leak from the trans cooler internally into the radiator. You can also check the front differential as the driver's side shaft passes through the trans and the seal can leak between the 2.

has anyone worked on the transmission before? mabey they didn't fill it up properly, otherwise i would be looking at transmission cooler lines to see if there is a leak there if its not leaking at the tranny.
