Check engine light is on and code reads bad output speed sensor (P7022 i think it was, not positive). I called the dealer and they say they wont simply replace it, they have to go through diognostics and all. then a few hours of replacing the part. So basically they are gonna rape me. So anyone else have this prob and how did they go about it. what should i do

Re: Please HELP. output speed sensor

its a very easy fix if only the sensor is bad... if you feel like doing it yourself just crawl under your car, the sensor is located on the side of the trans near the rear. if you dont want to do it, buy the part at the dealer and have an independent shop install the sensor for you. and i believe you mean P0722 not p7022.

Ok cool yeh i think you had the right code. I was told there were two sensors, primary and secondary is this true? Also is there anything else that needs to be done when installing the part or simply just swap them out. lastly does anyone have a diagram of tranny and sensor?

The sensor is held in by one bolt iirc. It's just the one sensor. It just connects to the panel on the battery firewall. Just get the belly pan off and look at the back of the engine oil pan near where it meets the transmission on the drivers side in front of the battery firewall.

Re: Please HELP. output speed sensor

This happened to me last year. It's a $100 part and easy swap out. I don't have a picture of where it's located, because I have a quattro, but it's a simple fix requiring nothing extra....or at least i think

Re: Please HELP. output speed sensor

If you are refering to the sensor that reads the crank then all those codes are not right if this is the part though.

Edit: no idea why that link is bringing you to the wrong section of the site, but go under Maintenance and Repair then down to Engine Speed Sensor.
