Around how much is it going to cost me to upgrade my headlights on my B8?

I just got a B8 A4 sedan as a present and everything is great except i got it with the premium package. Around how much am I looking at to get the headlights and the appropriate ballast? Is this even going to be possible or does the premium package Audi lack the switches to operate the DRL's on the premium plus headlights. Some help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm sure you'll be able to upgrade to xenons, as they are an available aftermarket upgrade for the A5. Expect to pay around $1200 from places that sell OEM stuff like www.oempl.us

Check with oempl.us and ask them if it's a simple DIY swap. I assume it should be easy enough, but then again I've never done it.

i doubt its a simple DIY as im probably gonna need a new ballast, power packs, and auto levelers but a $3400 job?? ill get in touch with oempl just to see how much the parts will run separately.

I don't think you should mess with the xenons if you're not sure of what you're doing. It is packed with high intensity discharge (hence HID) of both gas and metal salts, not to mention; the voltage alone can kill you if not properly handled. Leave it to the pros.

i dont intend on doing it by myself. im just shopping around right now and oempl wants 3200 for housings, xenon bulbs, LED controller, ballast, and adaptor harness. definitely not looking to pay that much..

Kufatec is the company your looking for. They sell wiring adapters for the B8. The adapter allows you to use factory xenons without the autolevelers. You still need the factory xenons, ballasts, and lamps. Kufatec link:

Try German eBay for the xenon headlights and ballsts.

The swap is pretty straight-forward, but going from Halogen to Xenon or Adaptive lights is not cheap. The ballasts and LED controllers are what puts the price over the top...

wtf you talking about voltage can kill you? LMFAO, you are not dealing with 220 here, max 12v(ok maybe a tad more than that)....if that kills you, you deserve to die....but i mean if you have a pace maker or something then, yes that would kill you.


i dont know how intense the install would be, but for the b7 its removing front bumper, swapping head lights and running two wires for high beams. Ebay would be the cheapest place for you to find them, but since they are soooo new, you will pay a pretty penny. Wait it out a bit, till people crash there car!

it should be easy as swapping halogen for HIDs in any car u just need to find out how to take the headlight out. Your car uses H7 bulbs just like the A5. Where in ny are you located because you can go to some audi specialty shops and ask the to swap a kit in for you unless you wanna go full OEM.

Hmmm...I don't think it's that serious. Someone I know just read the manual and did it himself...and he's not even a pro (not that I can do it myself ).

Fortunately for me, this is why I took my wife to pick hers out for her b-day. Otherwise, I would've picked out the wrong color . I don't think she would've complained either way though.

up here in canada,
premium package includes the xenon and those led's already.
Oh well... we pay more for the same car... which sucks...
and for the gas too.
