    rear caliper removal

I know there are a few threads on this.... just have a question.

I was able to do one part of the caliper removal, cept I could not get the bolts out from the back of the Rotor.

Very hard, and not much space to work. I was using an allen key, but I could not get enough leverage with all my might.

What tool do you guys use to remove those large bolts behind the Rotor?

sawed-off hex socket w/ratchet works best

    Re: rear caliper removal

i used an allen key on one side with a pipe for an extension but the other side i could not get the bolt turned far enough to get the allen key back on it. i tried a allen socket next but there wasnt enough room for the rachet head so i used the allen socket and put a small 1/4 wrench i think on the allen part of the socket then put it on the bolt and turned it very slowly...

    Re: rear caliper removal

Go buy a stubby allen socket set. Or just by the 8mm stubby allen socet and use a ratchet with at least a 12" handle or throw a pipe around the ratchet yu have. Unless your car is new and never seen winter, you are going to have a very tough time with an allen key. The bolt is very stubborn so that's why I recommend a long handle ratchet so you have more leverage and a stubby socket because the long will may warp/bend/break or strip the bolt.

    Re: rear caliper removal

you should be able to remove the top one, then if you are removing the rotor just tap the carrier back an inch or so and the rotor will be able to come off.
