Where is the coolant temp sensor located on 4.2L?
I followed the lines from the coolant tank but didn't see it anywhere below.
If there isn't DIY out there I can take pics as I go along. I know how to change it just need to know where it is on this engine. Thanks.

Couldn't find any info for 4.2L but 3.0L layout looks about the same so this should be correct. Maybe someone else would need this as well.

Did yours go bad? (obviously it did, but what was the car doing that told you it was bad?)

It's not bad yet but it is throwing a code which I don't have on me right now. I'll post it up later.

From my research it looks like bad sensor can do this. I've looked in car service history and that was never replaced before so it's a good place to start. Could be just a bad connection somewhere too. Should already have the green one but at $20 it's worth it.

I replaced mine and it was a pain. Takes a lot of patience.

    Re: Coolant Temp Sensor Location

That is kinda where it is. The sensor is not located up and down like the pic for refrence. It is located above the trans bell housing more in between the cylinder heads.

As you can see it is in the upper right hand of the pic. The is taken from under the car with the Dp's removed. you are looking at the back of the motor. You can see the trans in the bottom of the pic.
