Got the car flashed a couple weeks ago and I am starting to notice some strange things. Sometimes when I turn the car on the instrument panel, and climate control is reading the temp in Celsius. If I turn it off and back on it goes back to fahrenheit. Also, I have been noticing a whistling noise every so often. Again...it comes and goes. Should I be concerned. Any suggestions?

    Re: APR Questions

I'm not sure about the climate control but the whistling noise you're probably hearing is the turbo. Remember that with the APR flash you are now running more boost. Its totally normal to hear the turbo whine more with a chip.

Do you have a boost guage? if not you might want to get one just so you know if your PSI is too low....

Almost 100% that the whistling is when you're pushing the car harder...its definitely the turbo. I heard the same thing and took my car to the dealer. No problem

lol that happened to me a while back with my S4. I was thinking WTF and chalked it up as typical German electrical gremlins.

I did have a boost gauge installed along with a forge DV. What do you suggest is a "good" PSI? When idle? Driving?

When idle you should be around -20hg, should peak around 18hg with the APR chip, and normal driving will vary depending on how fast you're going and how much strain is on the engine. Normal driving I try to keep it at or below 0hg so that my turbo isn't spooling in the interest of saving gas.

    Re: APR Questions

I hope you are enjoying your new power!

In regards to the instrument cluster, I don't think its related to the flash at all. We don't do anything to interface with the instruments. The ecu reports data to it most certainly and we do reflash the ecu but other than the engine data stream coming from the ecu, the instrument cluster is its own independant controller. The issues you are describing sounds like either the key suggestion that another poster made or the cluster is losing its coding somehow temporarily. Sounds like you will need a trip to audi if the issue persists.

Please let me know if I can assist further.
