Transmission Flush Question - $525+ from dealership?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just called the local dealership and $525 plus tax for a flush and filter? I mean I know its Audi but seriously that seems a little high. I am almost inclined to try it myself but I don't want to anything wrong. Is this about right for what people are paying to have this done or is there anyone in Orlando or surrounding that can do this for alot less than that?

Way too high. Find a local transmission shop. I had mine done by a reputable shop where i live for 250.00. if you are going to do it yourself just use a good fluid approved for VW/Audi.

Oh wow ok I was going to get the fluid and filter kit from here:

    http://www.blauparts.com/proddetail....od=F2A1007%2DA

So maybe I would be looking around 150-200 at a good shop, just been reading that the temp has to be a certain degree and etc.

good kit. thats the oem fluid i think. i think i would stick with the oem fluid because of how sensitive our transmissions are. mobil 1 or royal purple might cause problems.

to the OP, i work in a trans shop.. just let me know and i can ship you out fluid and filter for under 200 and you can do it yourself, the fluid is like $13 a quart but i dont see where they came up with $500. the only thing that sucks is filling the trans through that little plug with a suction/pump gun.

Def. will I am not good with that kind of stuff or I would do it myself I do my oil and did my diff fluid on my gto I used to have once with help haha. My buddy said he would just do it for 150 so I ill probably get the kit soon and have him do it.

To the above would your kit come with all of the gaskets and extras the blauparts does?

Re: Transmission Flush Question - $525+ from dealership?

that kit is actually a pretty good price, at my shop we stock the fluid, filter and gaskets, but i would not be able to include the spare hardware(not sure why its included) or the filler pump (you can get one for $8 at napa). 5 quarts fluid at around $15 each ($75) plus the gasket ($12 i think) and the filter ($40 i think) would come out to about $120 plus shipping... honestly i would just buy the kit, its exactly what i would sell you at about the same price and they include more....

81k and I am not sure if it has been changed prior but I do know that when it downshifts to first from second or goes into park its jerky. So either it needs a flush or has work done to it? Not really sure.

Re: Transmission Flush Question - $525+ from dealership?

that is NORMAL price to flush your transmission in regular Audi Dealerships.

welcome to call in any other Audi dealership for trans flush price quote.

I did it in local independent shop for less than $400.

we would do it at my shop for about $225-$250... $120 for parts and about an hour and a half labor even though it dosnt take a whole hour and a half.... but we have to cover our ass incase something dosnt go right.

Mmmm sounds kinda high. But if its an auto transmission, then I guess it may hit that high. I remember when I did my manual transmission, I bought 4qts? for the transmission and a few more on the rears.

would there be any modifications to the trans that could be causing it to only buck into drive and downshift into first? I mean it doesnt do it in reverse or any other gear.

it could be a solenoid problem... any check engine lights? since you only get it into drive and downshift to first coming to a stop it sounds like your TCC (torque converter clutch) is sticking on..

thats a pretty normal price for our cars... the price of our auto tranny fluid is the killer, for instance a gm with a 4t60e trans is only about $90 for fluid and filter change, but the dextron fluid is only like $2.50 a quart where our fluid is more like $15-$20 a quart depending on where you buy it and the filter is almost $40 where the gm filter is like $6.50 from napa

Ok will do! I get out at like 530ish so I will go after and see what codes we got that might explain the harshness. Still getting it flushed either way.

Re: Transmission Flush Question - $525+ from dealership?

Not really sure have not been in there yet..... what I am wondering is what does the dealership do that another transmission place wouldnt that makes it more expensive? I understand in general the dealership is more expensive but compared to other prices locally 2-300 more expensive?
