    Salt & Vinegar FTW

(seriously - be prepared for people to yell at you for not searching. This is the most commonly asked question and there are TONS of threads about chips. I went with APR based on what I learned from searching the forums.)

Unitronic is getting very popular, GIAC is what i have and i'm satistied with it. Another good one if your planning on going big turbo in the future is Revo

You know for the time it takes people to flame somebody they could actually help them instead. This is why I hate forums. Anyway, I'm running the GIAC stage one on my A4 and I am satisfied so far. I would definitely reccommend it as I was in the same boat as you with only a forge splitter on my car and looking to start work on it. Big improvement over stock as far as performance but still smooth.

i would say Unitronic FTW! i dont know of many using it, but its what i am going with on my BAT setup.... everyone else is gonna say REVO, APR, or GIAC.... at H20 i talked to revo and unitronic about chipping and BAT tuning and unitronic seemed to have their shit together.

What tuner is close to your location or is good with their customers? You need to determine who can and will do it locally. The Stage 1 or 1+ results of APR or GIAC are pretty similar so check out shops in your area, see who you like working with.

go to the mfg websites and use the store finder, we don't work for them and don't know all of the locations.

don't mean to be coming off as an ass, but this is common sense, new to the scene or not.

And I can do that all day, but that doesnt get me anywhere if the people there are assholes like you... dont mean to be comming off like an ass!

So OBVIOUSLY my question isnt just where, its who is GOOD to go to, I could care less who supplies what. I want quality service, like I provide to the United States by serving in Iraq, not like you acting like a bad ass beacuse you know about your vehicle.. Have some respect, life is too short to be a fuck nut like you are acting my friend!

    Re: Chip for B6 1.8t

dude, chill. really, check out the websites, find out where they are which are close to you and then ask about the rep of the shop in one of the regional forums. thats all. i'm not calling you names bro so you don't need to be calling me an asshole. just sick of seeing the same "which chip should i get" a few times a week, it makes it hard to find the info when you to go to search when there are thousands of threads returned.

go Revo and you won't be sorry, i could have saved a ton if i didn't go APR when i got the car.

EDIT: the post RIGHT under this one after i posted was "what is the best chip for a 3.0 A4". just see this a few times a week and it isn't necessary if people search.

    Re: Chip for B6 1.8t

from a pm i sent long ago, maybe it will help:

for the chip... this is the run down:

    Revo Stage 1 = APR Stage 1
    Revo Stage 2 = APR Stage 1+
    Revo K04 File = APR Stage 2
    Revo Stage 3 = APR Stage 3

I recommend Revo over APR. I had originally had APR Stage 1+ and then upgraded to stage 2, but the APR stage 3 software is VERY specific to their stage 3 "kit" and won't work with many turbos other then a full GT2860R i believe, and if you don't get the software with the APRs stage 3 kit the software alone is like $1600 on top of the $499 or whatever it is for the base flash. so i wasn't able to use the APR software with my setup not to mention the insane cost. so i ended up having to go overwrite my APR stage 2 flash with Revo stage 3, not the end of the world but i could have saved myself the money from the APR flash if i had gone Revo from day 1.

i would go with the Revo stage 2 and get a set of 386cc fuel injectors. this will give you a good solid performance boost. if you want more at that point then you only need another $200 to upgrade your software to stage 3 (plus the turbo and other supporting mods of course).

long story short: get Revo Stage 2 and a set of Audi TT225 386cc EFIs (fuel injectors). you'll be happy for quite awhile.

I am nothing of a thug my friend and likely more educated than you. I’m just a guy coming home from serving in Iraq so you don’t have to worry about anything in life, and I could care less my image to you or anyone else.

You can either A; be kind and polite and help people out, like forums were designed for or B; Be a fuck nut like yourself and do nothing to contribute to society other than act like you’re a tough guy because you know how to fix your vehicle.

Now either is fine with me because I have a life, and am always continuing my education (right now to a PH.D in Crim.) and have done my part for the United States of America, and I get ass from a fine woman every night unlike you. Now we don’t have to sit here and gibber jabber over how great I am and how much of a dork you are, because we can be civil adults and be kind to one another like your mommy and daddy taught you, yes?!

And a Newb means nothing in society, this is a society, therefore have a little decency, and be respectufl when someone was simply asking a question and could not find responses for them anywhere else! Humility? I think you mean humanity! That mean kindness and compassion towards people...Which you are correct is part of becoming an adult, so why dont you take your advise and have some on someone who was simply asking a question.

And you are correct this is a car forum so for those of you that want to argue, go to an arguing forum, I simply would like to get answers to something I do not know about.

Reading your responses again, I don't get a sense you have much respect for anyone here that isn't offering to help you. I mean, heck, I've given a few links that will help you on your way, as well as others. Have you thanked anyone?

^ What? You mean take my own advice and help someone? Like providing you useful links and simply pointing to the fact that being an ass here isn't going to help you find answers any faster? does that sound about right?

I have GIAC and the injector file on my Avant with no issues.

I think this shop is somewhat near the DC area.......

yo you need to relax and it should be expected that when you ask a simple question there are some people that will react differently towards it. Look at all the people that have helped u dude, if you don't like what someone wrote screw them why are you gonna get aggravated because of a stupid comment just do a little more research like you have click the links and get up on ur Audi game and we'll all be good ... I heard GIAC X+ is good because it updates itself when you add your mods and don't have to go back to the dealer or wherever you got it to be flashed again. And alot of these dude know alott about these cars too so they're very helpful if you PM them and just don't bug out you know lol

    Re: Chip for B6 1.8t

why are u so SALTY?? Relax dood for real. You are gettin helpful answers...its a waste of time to be getting at all those ppl that aren't giving u answers u don't wanna hear. Just keep it moving.

Back on topic....I'm in the same boat as u and my final choices are between APR and Revo. The only question that's holding back my decision is if I wanna go bigger in the future. I think if I decide to, I gotta go with Revo, if not, I'm going with APR. I still don't know what to do yet.
