Whats the best to use in a 1998 a4 with a manual trans? Also, a good online place to purchase the stuff too.

Also, do i need 4 quarts? I cant seem to find the DIY for it at the moment.

    Thanks

Its definitely a DIY, why cant he do it if he follows the DIY, just make sure u have those weird looking bits. Also i would modify one step for the DIY, he tells u to remove the drain plug and drain everything out, instead of that remove the fill plug first so incase it doesn't come out, you wont have a car for a while.. And yes, you don't necessarily need a pump, u can just get a long tube and a funnel, make someone hold the pipe in the fill plug and hold the other end in the engine compartment and pour the fluid, it will be a lot easier, i have done it the same way before and works nice.

    nah i dont smoke enough.

Iv heard of bad stories about people changing fluid and not doing it right and causing them a lot of extra monies. Also doesnt it have to be done perfect so the fluid has to be a certain temp or something.

    Re: Trans fluid

The temperature of the tranny has to be at like 35 degrees F (though I guess it doesn't HAVE to) and the fluid should be level with the bolt you remove. You will definitely need a pump (autozone has them) that pumps fluid up and you will definitely need that special key. And make DAMN sure that it's 75-90 synthetic.

I guess if you could find a place that will change the fluid for $40 bucks, do it there because you figure, $20 for the pump and $20 for the key.

    You need 3 quarts

And search because this has been covered.

    Re: Trans fluid

how do you check the level on tip transmissions and if it's low how do i change it cuz my shifting is a bit delaid and a little hard. I was told my transmission was not connecting to the vag com by my mechanic. not sure what that means any help with that. Sorry i don't want to take over this thread.

    Re: Trans fluid

ECS would be your best bet or try this site http://blauparts.com/audi/audi_fluid...on_fluid.shtml

It looks to be a simple process but I rather let a pro do it, that way if he F@#ks something up he pays for it.
