Hey guys, I don't have my car here and I want to make sure this would work. Can anyone take measurements and see what the MAX width and height are that we can fit behind the stock bumper? I dont care if I have to hack the bumper to hell I just want to know what is the absolute largest we can do

    Thanks,
    Clint

My core alone is 22x11.3x2.5 + 3.5" endtanks on each side and is the absolute widest that fits, I also had to modify the AC condensor lines and completely remove the bumper support. If you are using a 3" core you will need to get a bit narrower and dont go above 12" tall

I have it already, but Ive realized that its way too small for what I want to do... 660cubic inches is decent, but Evos/STIs are running 1000-1200 cubic inch cores with 30Rs and up... Some even with stock turbos

Won't fit, I have one here and tried it when I did mine, its way too wide, and thats in the USP front, the stock front is much tighter

Its still the same condensor, I just had to modify the lines on each side and move them out of the way, normally they stick out in front of the flat of the condensor

Heres a pic of mine, its about 3/4" short of hitting the radius that starts to turn in at the top of the bumper

meh, Ill cut the top of my bumper to be honest, I really don't care... I want something thats ~1200 cubic inches in there... can we do 3.5" thick?

Also, what does the hood allow to clear?

I might try to do something thats like

    3.5" Thick
    22" long + endtanks
    15" tall

You're going to lose some spool by going so big, that's alot of volume to fill.

I'm aware, but I'm going to gain some boost in the long run... Honestly, look at any Evo/STI FMIC kit and see what the dimensions are.... The ER Comp is almost 1/2 the size

It usually is attached at the bottom yes, it is not a feed line though, just a thick ass support bracket for the part you see bent back out of the way in that pic. I cut it inorder to push it back like you see

Your being dumb, its not needed. My core never ever gets heat soaked, even in the 100 degree heat, retarded humidity, and high boost

The ER comp is a 600hp core.

Going to big is going to have a larger pressure drop which means lower boost not higher, it also means your turbo has to work much harder to fill the core.

I run a Garrett 800hp core, that is what is used for the GT35r setups and ER offers that core in their Race Series kit for the B5 1.8t, that core is 24x10.3x3.5".

When the intercooler has absorbed as much heat from the charge air as possible and it has reached the temp of the surrounding air, meaning there is no more heat transfer from the IC to the passing air

How many AEB guys you know running 272-280 cams?

The 510 that was running in my class at the drag event this weekend was running a 290 cam. Lets just say that car made no power at all below 5500 rpm.

A PORTED AEB head will outflow a STOCK EVO head ... lol

Stock for stock the AEB is by far inferior, ported for ported, again the Evo head is better

And just make your shit run already. Stop comparing your car to others, its not an Evo, it will NEVER make Evo GT35R power no matter what you do ...

I wasn't the one who brought up the evo thing... But either way I'm trying... its tough having the car in NJ and me being in MD

    Never say never man...

What do you think is the thickest core we can run btw?

    Re: Biggest FMIC

the problem for us is that we dont have a guy like dave buscher who spends his entire life building and tuning dsm's, if we did we could all follow suit and have 800awhp evo's, but we dont have a dave buscher in the audi tuning world so we all try different things and then bash each others thoughts on how to make big power on our motors... plus the evo's engine is based off the 4g63 powerplant that mitsu has been using since the late 80's. the thing is no body exept maybe a handful of tuners were breaking 400whp on that motor even in the mid 90's.. and now we are in 2008 where DSM guys have had about 20 years on that motor and they are finally making nasty ass power... so how about we all try and put our minds together and make some nasty ass power instead of just bashing everyones ideas and not getting anywhere by keeping idea's to ourselves in hopes of one day being able to log onto audizine and say "my shit is better than your shit"

Heres the problem... My friend Paul was supposed to weld up my manifold, come here, and get the turbo setup on and weld my full V-band exhaust up with the wastegate dump and also my new IC piping...

Well, he hasn't been able to come but I can't wait any longer so now I need to find a place to weld my exhaust up. I could bring the car here and leave it in the street, but I don't know how I would be able to get my exhaust made
