Best DS1 bulb upgrade

What do you think is best for replacing stock xenon 4300k HID bulbs. I one of my stock ones go out today and was looking at changing the color. I have these 7500k ziza fogs with "tint" lamin-x fogs and headlights. Im worried that if I get 10,000k ds1's I might have limited nightime visablity with the lamin-x. I guess the 8,000k bulbs would best match my fogs.

When I eventually have to change mine I'm going to go with 6000K. I'm certain with 10K you're going to have very poor visibility. Maybe you should look at 6K or 8K.

^ +1... highest u should go is 8000K and thats IF you are over ur head in love with the "blue" and prefer show over visibility... i have all 8000K and i had to have 3rd pair of driving lamps to have very good visibility

I bought my Osram bulbs from them and 5400k and 6000k are the same color temperature bulb.

You can get both bulbs for somewhere around $100-$150.

you can find legit ones on ebay for pretty cheap.
definately stick with something between 4300k and 6000k as anything more will deminish visibility and look like ass.
i went with 6000k personally, its the second cleanest. the best is 5000k but they are hard to find.

I assume when you said legit you mean either Osram or Philips, right? I've seen McCulloch D1S bulbs as well as GE. Not sure which ones are really legit ones.

i got mine off of ebay for 100 or so, i had one discolored and returned the set for free and got a replacement.

not sure of the brand , but they work well.

GE and McCulloch are pretty legit i'd say, haven't heard anything bad about them.

yes, after the replacement.
one of the cutoffs is slightly yellowed, but the only time you notice it is if you have the highbeams on against a wall.
under 100 bucks for 6000k d1s and a free replacement set, you cant beat the price.

yes, you can use any d1s bulb and use the stock ballasts. they just replace the bulbs

I think you might be able to get away with not having to take the Headlights out to change the bulb.

there are four bolts you have to undo...two of them in the rear need only to be loosened, the two on the top need to be removed. i believe there is a how-to on here though. you just remove the rear cover and change the bulb out. be careful not to touch the glass though.

You get what you pay for in this case.

There is rampant counterfiet Osram and Phillips bulbs on the market and I rather pay and know that I'm getting the real thing vs. getting a copy.

When I was doing the research for these bulbs I did ask Osram if suvlights.com was an authorized retailer or not before buying the bulbs.

My friend got a set of cheaper bulbs and side by side the bulbs look the same, even the box looked the same, but when you look carefully at the bulb you can see the bulb was rebased.

I put one of each bulb in my car and the light output and color was not the same.

Don't bother skimping out and buying a countefeit bulb. If you have to buy the bulbs twice you pay the same as you would buying originals. And the estimated lifespan of the xenon bulb before it dims will probably outlast your car.

Yes they work. I run 6000k Osram D1S-HC bulbs with stock ballasts.

what about the high beam? do you just buy two sets of the D1S HIDs?

I guess I've been waiting to hear that from someone... my friend has an 08 R32 with the best HID's i've ever seen, and I told him I was gonna match him ahha, that's why i want the high's

HID highbeams aren't useless as that is what bixenons are.. HID for lowbeam and the same bulb for the highbeam. There is a cutof flap that lowers to emit all of the light when the highbeams are activated.

The halogen bulb in an bixenon setup is there only for 'pass to flash'

I've got Ecode bi-xenons so the HIDs remain on when I hit the high beam ... regular H7 highs + HID 6k lows + 6k HID fogs = all the light you could ever need !
