well first thing that you should take into consideration before you even start to think about this build is howmuch money are you thinking to spend????

2.8 engines are not designed to be boosted, so if you are gonna boost them, either you build it properly or your better of doing either a 1.8T or 2.7 TT swap

Re: Goin About Turboin A 2.8

You're best bet in this scenario would be a remote mount turbo setup (i.e. off the exhaust).

Actually, I take that back. Your best bet would be to sell it and build a 1.8T, seriously. Unless you're EXTREMELY mechanically inclined and have the tooling to build such a ride, I wouldn't consider it.

And that would be the least of your problems. Try figuring out how to tune it first.

there is no such thing as an easy engine swap....u will need motor harness, ecu, drive train....but i can tell you that it will be a lot easier than to build a 2.8 t...and cheaper too

Re: Goin About Turboin A 2.8

if you really want to stick with the car you have, go for the pes s/c kit. you can only run low boost for the same reason with turbo (weak internals). IMO, your best option is fixing whatever it needs to achieve a good/great condition. do all the repairs yourself to avoid high labor costs, then sell it when you find a better powerplant (1.8tqm, s4, a6 2.7tqm, 2.2T). This way you can have a great daily driver with exhaust (optional) until you can afford to upgrade.

to turbo charge it, when all is said and done you will probably be over 15K to do this turbo build....and that is a conservative number, depending on how big of a turbo u wanna go and boost numbers

Re: Goin About Turboin A 2.8

remote turbo seems like it would be the most logical layout for this illogical plan.

as for supercharging and weak internals, would installing some forged rods,ARP studs, bearings etc. solve the issue of high boost? i dunno for audis but for mk3 supras you can get great internals for 1-2k

just buy a turbo and weld it to the exhaust under the middle of the car with a filter attached. Run it into the intake manifold and tune it with an ebay tune. Done.

The car he is refering to cost over 16k when it was done. it would be cheaper to do know but im not sure by how much.
    16 k will get u a stage 3 s4 fwiw.
However a single turbo on a 2.8 would be half that cost.
pm makk and ask him about a single turbo for your car.
