    Winter project, comments welcome

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So this winter I'm going to do my suspension and brakes. I'm decided on Stasis SS coilovers but I'm having trouble deciding on brakes. I don't have the cash for Brembo's, is there another cheaper alternative that will still provide good enough stopping power for a GT71R elim? I've searched and found that a common upgrade is going to A8 brakes. I'm just looking for some more options for brakes here.

    Thanks.

Yeah, I know that is a great suspension and maybe in a year or two I will upgrade to that, but for now I'm going with the Stasis SS.

I'm really looking for a somewhat cheap brake upgrade.

The B6/B7 S4 is slightly higher spring rates than the B6/B7 A4 setup.

So what makes the Bilstein PSS9 so much better than the Stasis SS kit?

They are not better, just different. The spring rates on the PSS9's are higher and some folks want that for track or more aggressive driving.

Personally i loved my STaSIS streetsports till i started to do more track time. At that point the SS's were just a tad too soft for what i wanted. They are really geared to street use. The PSS9 is a middle of the road coilover. It can be used for track, but still pretty comfy for street use.

If you not going to be doing any track time the STaSIS SS w/ H-Sport S4 sway bars is a kick ass combo.

    ^^ Thanks, that's a fine explanation.

I've spent the last hour or so searching the forum for break kit writeups but I didn't find anything to really educate me.

Could someone recommend a good, fairly inexpensive break upgrade?

people do B6 S4 or B7 A4 upgrades for brakes. Then you can go get yourself some slotted/drilled rotors and some hawk pads

edit: theres also some good deals in the group buy forums

you might start by spelling it "brake kit" not "break kit"

the search engine will be friendlier that way
