car wont start!!! WTF

ok so my car just flat out wont start... i have check everything... all coils are brand new a week old... it has half a tank of gas... but it did the weirdest thing the other day before it wouldnt start... it died like it was out of gas... but it wasnt.?? so i have no idea what it could be... any ideas? if not i am gonna be joining the towing pictures thread lol...

btw, does it crank or start at all?..if it starts a bit, then dies off i would check ur maf...

Deva Ju , some kid posted the exact same thing , same wording.. turned out ot be his fuel pump.. the shop told him they had changed it as he requested , but didn't...

i'd bet its fuel pump

if its not check the whole fuel system for clogs, leaks, etc

car wont start at all... and when i turn the key the only light on the dash that lights up is the traction control light... newb question but where is the fuel pump on out cars?

Check for spark. Usually, when the fuel pump quits, when trying to start, there is several weak misfires, right off, then no more as cranking continues. The ECU power supply relay powers the ignition coils, and the fuel pump relay. Can you hear the pump run for a couple of seconds when you first turn the igniton ON?

horrible newb so i dont even know where to stick my ear to listen... but when i sit in it to start it i hear nothing at all.. no sounds... so if the fuel pump is a weak sound that i have to be right on top of i might not here it from the drivers seat...

You have tried to jump it, right?

After reading post below, makes me think a fuse check might be a quick worthwhile effort also.

Yeah, in the tank. Have someone turn the key on while you listen at the filler pipe with the cap removed. The pump runs with the key ON unless the engine is not started or the starter cranked. then shuts off after a second or two if the engine isn't running. If you can't hear the pump at all, it may be bad like already said, but that isn't a sure deal, don't replace the pump without confirming the pump power supply is sending power to the pump first. If the pump IS running, check fuel presssure at the fuel rail. If that is OK check for spark.

My guess is the ignition switch.
