    Drove the new M3 today

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
all i can say is wow, i think it is the most sophisticated car ive ever driven. had a guy come in to work today to buy some wheels. he got some staggered 19" BBS CH's to put on it, but the tires werent at my shop yet so he handed me the keys and asked me if i was familiar with SMG transmissions. i said yeah automatic? yeah i can drive automatic lol. he gave me an awkward im richer than you look and proceeded to leave a 19 year old with his $70,000+ car. i hop into it and i dont even realize till about a mile later that im in a brand new M3, and opportunity that most my age will never get. the car hands me the seatbelt and im off. even the beeping sound the car makes when the door is open is awesome. it tells you everything thats going on, ive driven all the other M3's and this is by far the best handling out of them all. but that goes without saying. after i mount the wheels i go on a ten mile "test drive" to make sure theres no rubbing lol. the guy gets there after i get back and we start talking. he starts telling me about the problems he's already had with the car. problems? the car has two hundred miles on it and he's already had to take it in because the a/c quit working. reason? BMW doesnt know, they removed a sensor and replaced it and somehow it worked again. later he takes it to get the windows tinted. the end up shattering the passenger window somehow. they tell him its the second window theyve had break in twenty years and theyll pay for it. the tab comes to a cool $900 for a window, plus a free tint job. goes to show u no matter how sophisticated BMW's get theyll always be the same trouble mobiles.

so jealous man, I wish my dad would pick up that car since there's about 50 of them at the dealership near me haha. My dad always tells me he'd rather get another porsche but he just doesn't understand the M3ness!!

so it had an A/C problem and it's a trouble mobile? If you could only see the price tag of what I've had to do to my audi in the past 25k miles. And a broken window is not BMW's problem, thats a techs fault. All I know is for 50k miles I pay for nothing but gas and insurance.

'Trouble mobile" according to your extensive 19 years of experience? My E46 M3 I've had for 4 years has not had a single light bulb nor a single bolt be needed tightening. Your initial SMG = automatic comment makes you seem ignorant. Please let other who have had actual long term experience and has had a drivers license for more than a few years do the reviews.

never said that the window thing had anything to do with BMW. just stating the problems he's went through period. maybe age matters to some people that maybe just got into cars but ive been into cars my whole life. getting a license at 16 has nothing to do with the experience level i have with vehicles. its pretty insulting to know that because of my age you guys think i know nothing about cars. alot of people on this forum probably end up paying labor fees on everything thats done to their cars, ive been helping build vehicles since i was 12. ive owned a BMW in the past and my family has owned plenty of BMW's. Dont get me wrong i love the new M3 and i love BMW's in general, but from my experience BMW's can me alot more troublesome than other cars, including my Audi.

well then your lucky that your audi holds up, mine has cost me over 7k in parts in the past 20k miles. My 750li,E46 M3,or E90 have never had any problems at all. I find that Audi/VW are quite a bit more notorious for having problems from both techs and designers.

Young enough that you wouldn't. Obviously my parents and close family friends have helped me out in starting a career and becoming successful, however I dont understand why you wouldn't understand me buying a 25k M3 a discounted down 3 series, and a family owned 7. I could care less If you believe me or not, but Its not like I'm saying I own a murci or something.

Re: Drove the new M3 today

Ive had no one to help me. I've built my future from the ground up with nothing more than hardwork. The B7 s4 i have right now is the only nice car I have ever owned. I have not owned any BMWs, Mercs or any other fancy cars. I've had some crappy econo boxes and some POS domestics. You guys are lucky to have very supporting and/or wealthy parents. Born with a golden spoon. I came from a very poor family but I've managed to make a better life for me and my family. Im not tooting my horn here, but I'm kinda annoyed when i hear about young people getting it off quite easy. I know there's nothing wrong with a little help from family but i feel those people dont have the right to make it sound as if they got it all made because of their own efforts. Its much much different starting with nothing.

    /end of rant.

how did this go from an e92m3 ziner experience to "youre a rich snob that relies on your parents" argument?
    jezus who cares.
    op; youre a lucky sob!
the more i look at a b6/7 S model audi the more an e46 becomes the logical choice. hmm make the same power with 6 cyl or 8? make it to 4 wheels or 2?
    bmw ftw?

congratulations for making it on your own, but if you're thinking I got handed a check for 100k to start doing what I wanted you're sorely mistaken. I was given opportunities to make money, not just money, I built myself from the ground up. Everything I own, I earned, I'm not spoiled and I don't act like I am. I will never say I did this all by myself because no one does, there will always be that boss, or friend, or family member that aids you in creating your life.

Cerfus & SprintS4Play, lay the f*ck off. so someone was excited to write a personal review after they got to drive the new M3, what does this have to do with you? get off of your high horses.

i can hardly believe SprintS4 just had the balls to say "in your 19 years of experience" to such a non-technical post. you have one single ring, and about 0 credibility here. stop being such a douche or leave.

So back on topic... When my dad and I drove the DKG (I think thats what they're calling it now) you can't even feel it shift. Its so fast that the car just keeps going and going. It is one amazing car! My dad fell in love with it and is hopefully planning on getting one after winters over. fingers crossed!!

no no no!! Manual, it might shift faster but it take the fun out of driving, at least in my eyes.. I see them a quite a lot now, I saw an interlagos blue one and of course the best color on a car ever, alpine white, and man they are just really gorgeous looking.

whats so impressive about owning a 30K-40K cars at 19 years of age. Been there done that without family help. Just had credit and worked 7 days a week. My friends were smoking weed and drinking beer while I was making payments..
As for the topic german cars are all the same. They do not have the best reliability my b6 a4 was a POS while my brother had no problem with his 3 Jetta's. They all have flaws and sadly the new electronics increase the risk of failure. I can see that in a few years there will be lots of electric steering problem and also electronic damper control.
I've been Audiless for a while but one of my DD will get replaced by an A3.
