Dental drill???

I have a 2003 a4 1.8t tip. I always hear that a symptom of a dying turbo is the dental drill sound. Here is what my car is doing.
- dental drill sound under boost, sounds like a supercharger.
- turbo spikes to 21 and holds 15-18lbs consistently.
- I am apr 1+ with exhaust, cai and test-pipe.
I have heard that a test-pipe can cause this excessive noise but I am unsure. Could some senior members give me guidance. I hope I am just over reacting. The car feels fine and has sounded like this since I chipped it. TIA

most likely that the turbo is on is way out. probaly got some foriegn object damage

Remove the intake and see how much the shaft moves.

are you on a stock diverter valve? could be blown from the higher boost. try to change it out, might as well with the chip

Yeah I have an apr r1 so I doubt the dv is shot. How would I check for shaft play on the turbo?? What is the norm.

I had same with APR 1+.... chip killed the turbo. Good excuse to go BT, so I wasn't too unhappy about that :)

First a blown trans and now possibly the ko3. Sucks. Oh well. gtrs here I come. Goodbye apr!

3rd this. take you about 10 mins to check it. just grab the nut on the end of the shaft (god that sounds gay) and see if there is a lot of play.
