Best rain tire???

I pretty much only drive my car (Coupe GT) in the winter here in Portland. Right now I have a shitty set of all seasons that the car came with. I want to upgrade to a quality set of rubber for this winter. I have shitty traction right now with the current tires, so I want to have a dramatic difference. What's the best for wet conditions? Would a studdless snow tire ultimately be better than an all season? What do you guys think? Thanks!

for our westcoast weather the nokian WR all season snow tires are awsome, basically a hybrid between a rain tire and a snow tire with the benefit of being suitable for use year round.

they perform really well in the rain and slushy snow that is all too familiar to this side of the continent.

That tire would probably really suck here in the Pac NW. It gets too cold in the winter for that tire. Most of the time it rains and temps are between upper 30's-50's. We may or may not get a week of light snow as well.

Well that suggestion was for the best rain tire, not the best rain tire for Winter.

Michilin Alpins, Blizzaks, or Dunlop D3 would be more enough to deal with the conditions we have in the PNW during the Winter season.

stay away from blizzacks, they are only good for Ontario's powder snow. useless in slush and ice/black ice.

my friend has those goodyears on his subaru and we went for a spirited drive together once and the car understeered all the time, it wasn't his driving, it was the tires.

I had and now have Blizzaks on my A4 for winter. I think they rock!!! I've driven during a crazy ice storm in Ohio in my A4 and didn't have any problems at all!

I have some crappy Pirelli Snowsports on my Avant and with Quattro they got me through some pretty harsh snow conditions in the interior.

I would only imagine the car would be even more stable if I had better quality snow tires on them.

I had a set of blizzacks on my old 4wd toyota and got suck up north with them twice, the second time cost me my clutch. I could spin the blizzacks in the snow just as easy as the wal mart all seasons i had on there.

speaking of the interior, everyone up there swears by Nokian. my friend has a set of nokian snow tires on his X5 and they kick ass, and my sister in law is now using them and told me just today actually that shes no longer afraid of driving in snow and said the only problem now is she tends to stop too quickly in the snow for people behind her to react in time. proof is in the pudding for me.
