    Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    My brakes pads are all worn and my rotors are showing signs of wear and littleness so im looking to upgrade, mostly at b5s4 brakes. What is the exact parts lit? This is what i know ill need:

    b5s4 rotors
    set of pads
    calipers
    new lines
    fluid

    now do i also need carriers or anything else im not even thinking of? Im doing this on the cheap so if anyone knows of any deals or good prices post em up! Oh and any specialty tools??

    Re: Brake question - Confused!

    The b5s4 brake upgrade is basically an upgraded caliper over the stock one. Therefore, new carriers are not needed but the rotors are larger than stock. All you do is order b5s4 pads to go with the new calipers. I'm not sure if SS lines are the same for both cars.

    EDIT: ttt in just 4 hours? geez.

    ABOVE = FALSE

    b5s4 brake upgrade uses & requires 321mm rotors which IS WHAT actually makes it an upgrade. B6 1.8T= 288mm, B6 3.0= 312mm(also a bolt on for 4cyl). B5/C5 2.7T HP2 brake carrier format is unique and carrier generally will come with used calipers. Pad choices are limited and magic pads for HP2 are a bit pricey due to 8 pad set. Unfortunatly my mind is blank on the brake hydraulic lines required for B6/HP2 combo at the moment.

    Edit: The quoted post I contridicted apparently has been updated for accuracy

    ^^^
    Thanks, my bad. The calipers are also more than one piston if I'm not mistaken, making better clamping as well as the heat dissipation from the larger rotors.

    Re: Brake question - Confused!

    B5S4 caliper actually integrates the carrier and caliper, so they really aren't normally separated. It's unlikely that someone would sell you a caliper without the carrier.

    Re: Brake question - Confused!

    with the B6 S4 & B7 A4 calipers readily avalaible there is no reason to waste your time on the old B5 S4 calipers. The old HP2 calipers also were known to limited wheel choices when compared to many other calipers.
