    do not ghetto rig it..

last thing youw ant is to have to pull the motor again to re gasket the turbos.

arent the exhaust inlet gaskets the same as the k04s?

go get a small sheet of copper from a hardware store I think 1-2mm thickness is correct. Make your own gaskets. 1sq foot should cost about 8-12$ and net 3-4 gaskets. The best part is it will seal better and withstand more heat than any steel or fiber gasket.

the sealing gasket on these turbo is a ring isnt it? just like k04s/k03s?

i would not be half assing this.. like i said.. who wants to pull a motor to do measly turbo gaskets

It's hard to screw up a copper gasket since even with overlap it's not like it's going to melt or something, unless of course your egt's are in excess of 2,000 degrees F

I agree on the not half assing part though, I'd bite my tounge and pay the $120, I've learned that even with my a4 $100 is nothing with an Audi.

Re: Porsche tried to charge $120 for gaskets wth!!!!

thats fine and all. i still wouldnt trust it..

maybe on somethign where i can change that gasket in a few min.. but on these cars.. youll be up shits creek if that gasket failed..

its either chance it for a few dollars.. or use the right stuff spend more up front and save in the longrun.. hours of your time or hundreds of dollars in labor.

Re: Porsche tried to charge $120 for gaskets wth!!!!

yeah its a ring type gasket as well, but i mean the 996's are only like 30k cars now and porsche thinks that they are ferraris, like wtf... I don't want to half ass it but lol i mean cmonn i need this done before winter comes,

i guess i can start gutting the piggies until i make a decision. but i might use the copper trick for the exhaust gasket which is just a flat plate...

any more argumentative ideas, i wasnt expecting so much opinion but im liking it..

Sounds like you shouldnt even be doing this project. You have done 0 research as to whether the ko4s are the same, and post a thread without any info in it. Are you aware you need different software? I would think this would be a given to most, but im unsure. Hope it comes together for you.

this is the highest temp silicone sealer out there, but i think turbos can get higher than 700 degrees.
I would buy a sheet of gasket material from Napa, they have a high tempature sheet that you could use without issue. the copper idea would work too.

-75°F to 700°F (-59°C to 371°C) intermittent; resists auto and shop fluids and vibration.

you want to use that stuff on oil pans and valve covers.. not for turbo's.

it's 700degrees intermidient.. meaning not all the time, normal operating temp max of that stuff is in the range of 300-450 degrees, which is probaly the idle temp of a k04.
