Inspection Gone Wrong

I got my car inspected yesterday and everything ive done to the lighting of my car is illegal. Tinted taillights, red liecense plate light, red side markers, white blinkers, all illegal. And apparentyl there is too much play in my steering wheel. Now i gotta switch all these things to pass, but dont worry, im not keepin them switched.

well if you thought your lights were going to pass, then not to be mean, but you must be not playing with a full deck of cards.. thats common sense.

Thats pretty odd....maybe ur state has different inspection parameter.....I've passed 2 years straight with white LED's as turn signals....I have resistors installed to eliminate the bulb out warning, so I guess thats why I pass

FInd a shop that will pass it. Duh!!!! Jersey allows both state and independent garages to inspect vehicles. State is free, independent charge 70 somethin bucks. Find a mod friendly independent ask around.

yeah in nyc the inspection is normally like 38 bucks and the ones that are mod friendly will charge you like 75 to pass it.

I can understand most of that, but red license plate lights? You know that's illegal b/c you can't have red or blue lighting on your vehicle. That's reserved for government vehicles, like Police cars.

Sorry about your troubles, but modding lighting is a quick way to fail an insp.

Agreed. Too much play in the steer wheel though? I have some play, never thought it would arise as inspection issue...

I just tried getting passed from a private shop for my tints and every place i went to said they no longer pass people because they were all recently caught and fined thousands of dollars for it. Went to like 8 different shops, most of which were in Paterson, which would be the place to find one if any. Hopefully you have better luck than I did....My fronts are now tint-less again......but not for long

try jersey city, theres plenty of shops there that are slow and in need of money.

hit up newark too. but i second the red license plate thing. that just ain't right.
and for your turn signals, they have to blink amber. you can get stealth bulbs that are kinda silver but blink amber.

yeah inspections do blow...however the guy i got was cool luckily he let me go with no amber running lights and one wheel that has a small bend in it
