    more sub help!

So i got my system mostly hooked up, but it sounds weak and distorted...

I tapped into the rear speaker wires, since they were directly above in the trunk, and got a high low converter hooked up.

    Any ideas or suggestions?
Do i need a bass controller?
Are there settings on the high low converter i need to mess with?

well first you dont need a hi lo converer, just like i said in your other thread, you need to splice your RCAs into the stock harness. there is already a line level signal in the trunk

The way he is doing it works perfectly too. Make sure everything is connected right. The PAC I35 I use has adjustable knobs on the top of it, I put these at middle. What type of converter are you using? Mess w/ gain etc on amp to no avail I assume?

When connecting a sub to the stock radio usually its not gonna sound very clear because as you increase bass to your sub your also increasing bass to your speakers. Stock speakers do not respond well to bass at all ..so you get a distorted sound. Im sure with an aftermarket radio that lets you control the sub on its own it would it would sound 10x better.

    Re: more sub help!

Most people on this board are confused about the stock soundsystem. You don't "need" the hi-lo converter, skip it. You may have tapped the wrong wires, or have a intermittent connection between ground or the splice. Check them all and make sure you solder the wires instead of just "electrical taping" them. Do it right the first time. If you need anything just pm me. Good luck!
