Going to the 1/4 mile....need advice on launching a FWD!!!!

Hey FixxFest2008 is tomorrow at BMP (Bradenton Motorsport Park), and i will be taking my girls GTRS A4 FWD.
Remember that last time i took it i didnt do very well since i was not going WOT, since i have just gotten the car and did not know it well like i do know.
I fixed all the intercooler pipes and they are not blowing off.

Now, the car has:
5spd FWD
GTRS turbo kit
440cc injectors
Mika tuning (Dont comment about it, i know it sucks) but thats what i have now!!!!

Wheels:
18x8.5 BSA wheels

Radial GT




What pressure should i leave the tire at?
whats a good RPM to launch at?

Old the rpms at a set point, add throttle as you release the clutch and feather the throttle to control wheel spin. I would start around 3k rpms and go from there.


18-20psi in the front tires and rear tires at 45psi. Unless you dont have anyway to fill the front tires up after racing.

Well, had alot of fun.

MY best time was 14.5 @ 99 mph, and it was HOT as hell, i say it was above 85* F. Dont have a Video of that run since the person who i gave my camara to was walking around looking at other cars. oh well.
I have someothe shitty vids i`ll post later.
Clutch was slipping like hell and managed to get a 14.5. I did way better than the last time i went to the strip with this car. last time a got a 15.1 @ 89 mph

I know i can do better with this gtrs a4, soon i`ll be getting a SB stg 3.

FWD to start with and then he said the clutch was slipping which means he isn't going to be putting all the power the ground. Slipping clutch also decreases load on the engine.

Yes, problem is that if you spin the tires half way down the track you only end up using so much of the higher gears before hitting the finish line, so basically its like running on a shorter track.

I ran a FWD GTI that made 400whp, because it pretty much spun the tires down the whole track I was only able to trap 115 mph.

The clutch was definitely hurting him. I fairly easily used to trap 107-108mph with my GTRS. With my 3076R @ 25psi this weekend at the same event I was only able to trap 111mph (13.8 1/4)

I didn't personally, Im not sure if anyone else did, not that I have seen yet. I kept trying to get through 1st with minimal wheel spin, the result was a horrible bog going into 2nd and I kept running 14's @ 107-109. The last run I did I figured I would try the balls out approach. 5k, dumped the clutch and lit up 1st, was past redline before the car even moved, slammed 2nd and didnt have half the bog as previously. The result was 13.8 @ 111 still with a 2.6 60ft

lol suspension work? Ive got Tein SS coilovers and Hotchkis S4 F+R sway bars. And of course I'm not running slicks or I would have better traction ...

what does weight have to do with 60ft's? Its driver skill and traction setup... If you take a 400whp civic and a 400whp fbod they both have the capability to cut 1.5 60'

still going to make a difference seeing that the lighter weight car is going to get out of the hole quicker since the wheels are draging less weight behind it.

Who is arguing? I am just stating the fact that a B5 has already trapped nearly 110 while running 12.4 with a elim, if you haven't noticed but the person that was looking to trap 110+ owns a B5 and this is a B5 forum in case you forgot what forum your posting in.

The ET record in charlies car had a 108 trap, that doesn't mean all of my traps were 108.

Thats really hard to answer because every car is going to be different and it will also really depend on the driver.
