New car - just got hit?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys, so I just got a new car. A 1999 A4 1.8t, Black on black w/ leather! Apparently the leather in it is special edition as well... They guy told me they only made somewhere around a 100 of them.

Anyways, so few days after I get it, I get rear ended. Nothing major, but the insurance guy cut me a check of $700. I cleaned up the bumper myself, and it doesnt look too bad. Just a few smudges now...

I decided to take the $700 and a bit of my own money, and go ahead with a new front. I dont really like the regular A4 bumper, and plus its kind of falling apart anyways. Plus the hood needs to be redone too...

I looked into a few bumpers, and they all seem to be in the same price range. I really like the RSR bumper, but would it be too low to the ground? I am not getting a rear bumper, and probably no side skirts at first either, so Im not sure how it would look like... Any experience?

The RS4 and S4 bumpers look really great too, but again, how would they look like without side skirts?

Any advice on what bumper I should go with would be greatly appreciated!

    Justin

dont mean to piss in your cheerios but the 1.8t didnt come with leather. its leatherette and its not exactly rare. As far as the bumper, i would go with an OEM s4 bumper. it looks just fine without the sides and its made of plastic thats flexible. you should be able to get one and have it painted for under 7 bills

S4 is a good choice because it bolts right up.

lol. can you really not feel the difference between pleather and leather? Leatherette seems to hold up better without cracking except for that notorious tip in the drivers seat. Fucking hate that. arghhh

Do u live in the Eugene Springfield area?! The audi you're talking about sounds exactly like the one I was looking at a month ago! If so I can help you with random stuff on your car if you need it or need any suggestions on stuff.

Re: New car - just got hit?

s4 bumper is an easy way to go and looks good IMO, since your car is 99 if its not the facelift style i believe all you need are new bumper shocks, but i could be wrong, thats just what i was reading when i was researching mine. I did my swap no prob, but mine is a 2000, the only thing you cant reuse is your OEM A4 fog lights (i believe one member got his OEM a4 ones to work by flipping them and some trimming but then the light pattern was off or something), for me i just swapped in some aftermarket ones that were better light output anyway. The only semi difficult part about the swap is getting all the rivets separated from the bumper cover and the reinforcement bar (since you will be transferring the rebar over to the new S4 bumper) since some of them are in tricky spots, but a little leverage and motivation should fix that!

You can get the Dietrich bumper from Germany to give the RS4 look without the RS4 wideness.
