Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can anyone here please help me out with a price check. Its an 2004 loaded with quattro, bose, homelink, power seat, HID's etc. Black on black, Excellent condition with 48k miles. KBB private party has it at 19k excellent condition and 18k good. Everyone who has been interested thinks it only worth 16k. Whats a realistic price for it in your opinion. TIA

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

$16K HELL NO! i have the same car at 49K miles and I wouldn't take less than $19,000 for it...maybe even $19,500. you're in AZ though where no one needs an AWD car so it might be hard to get what you want for the car. ie. i purchased mine in Dallas where the same situation goes and i got an awesome deal because of it. the seller just couldn't get rid of the car so i offered $3,500 less than asking and he accepted. the economy blows right now though, so factor that into the equation as well....

try getting someone to buy it out of state, it's really easy to catch a one-way flight and drive it home.

I'd say with the new B8's out, the most the you can expect is 18k

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

^^i don't think the B8s really have anything to do with a B6 USP selling price right now. they're back-ordered, overpriced for an A4, and people looking to purchase a B8 are searching in a significantly higher price bracket...more than double the value of a B6.

But it will inevitably drive the price of the older models down. Maybe not right now, but when B8's are on the lot they will

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

We bought our 2005 USP Avant last January for a price of about 26,500 when all was said and done. Car had about 29k on it and every option except the Bose radio.

I'd expect an '04 sedan to sell for about 18k, perhaps slightly more if you have an avant.

Despite the new models on dealer lots, the USP models are still rare and are very nice cars that don't depreciate quickly.

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

    KBB private party value says:

    $18,575 excellent.
    $17,675 good.

    Trade in is $16k
    Retail is $21.5K.

Realistically, $18000 would be pretty fair IMO. (Now if someone truely wants a blk/blk USP tip, you may be able to get more since they are hard to find, however i would think most people who really value a USP, would also want a manual)

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

I have bought a few used cars and most of the time KBB is not really on the mark. There are many more factors to consider. First of all, a buyer knows the KBB value, but the car only sells for what they are willing to pay for it. They know the trade in value is $16k so that is what they are going to offer because they know if you take it to a dealership that is what you will get (except you will be forced to put that money into another car). From my experience in buying and selling the starting offer usually tends to be close to the trade in value and might go up from there.

The biggest thing working against you getting a good offer at this point in time is the economy. There are countless cars going up for sale every day where I live and it seems like the deals just keep getting better and better because people need out of their payment, etc, etc. The value of your car is really only relative to the current market. Sure, people are asking KBB or slightly under, but are actually selling for less. I just chopped $1000 off my A4 I bought.

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

KBB value is inflated and focused more on higher retail prices. check out NADA, it's much more realistic.

$19k. I have the same car and mileage but manual. I wouldn't sell it for less than $20k right now but it's not for sale (bought it for $17k).

good question, i am definitely a manual trans kind of guy but I was thinking of the a4 not so much as a performance car but rather an around town kid hauler, and a freeway cruiser. Im coming from a modified, 6 speed 996tt. I am hoping to jump back into a 911 or M3 pretty soon. My wife drives pretty hard and really likes the 6 speed.

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

Interestingly, I checked nada and they have it at $16,775 clean trade in and at 20k retail.
so 18k seems about where it should be.

Re: how much can I sell my usp A4 for?

i paid $17,250 in July '08 for my '05 USP Avant 1.8T 6spd with 53k on the clock.. Bose, cold weather, lighting, and premium packages.. the only thing you also need to factor in is the USP 18" wheels were missing (17" B6 5-spokes were on it)..

but a used set of USP wheels are $750 or less with tires (some in the classifieds now)..

    so essentially $18k..
