Rust Proofing?

I have a 2006 Audi A4 and I was going to Rust proof it for this winter but i called Audi and they said that it could void the 12 yr rust warranty, and no rust inhibitor is recommended. What are your thoughts and has anyone out there done it? I don't have the warranty book (It's on order) so i don't actually know how the 12 yr rust warranty is worded. I've been told that a lot of those body and rust warranties are covered 100% for like 5years then it's a steep slope downhill on the percentage they actually cover.

why not wait until the warranty is up then rust proof it. i just dont see the need for it. are cars rotting everywhere you turn up there or something?
