    Rough idle problem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hey,

Ive had a rough idle issue for the past 6 months. It seems to come and g oevery so often. Its a 2000 A4 1.8T. The car seems to want to pull me through the intersection when im stopped and in drive at a light. But when I put the car in neutral all is fine and the car stops the rough idle. Any opinions on what it could be? Im thinking some kind of tranny problem? which i hope is not the case. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

what kind of tranny do you have? could be tps, most likely tho its the MAF. Also clean your throttle body

    Re: Rough idle problem

tps is the throttle position sensor. Its a potentiometer that can go bad and screw with your system. The tps is affects injection and could cause your rough idle. The MAF is another big possibility - however if the MAF is at fault then you will have rough accelleration. For example if you slowly start pressing on the gas while the car is in park/neutral the rpm should go up but should start staggering at about 2-3k.
Do you have any codes/a check engine light for a misfire? The coils could have gone bad too.
