am i getting ripped off on repairs?

Hey everyone, so my car was recently involved in an accident and when i brought it into the shop the guy said he guesses the repairs to be 3-4 grand. This is about what I had in mind taking my car in, so I was fine with it. I have a 2002 Audi S4. Anyways today I get a phone call and was told that it is actually going to be $7,700. I was shocked.

Anyways, the estimate breaks down like this:

parts: 4,400
labor (repair and paint): ~2,800

22hrs body labor, 12 hours paint labor & supplies, 2.5 hours frame labor

the body/frame labor is $70/hr while the paint and supplies is 100/hr

is this shop ripping me off or is this about right?

if any of these numbers are quite high from your experience please let me know...also just wondering if the labor costs seem a bit steep to you. what personal is surprising is the almost $700 for a USED headlight, granted it is HID but still...720 for a bumper cover...pretty sure I've seen rs4 bumpers go for less than this...and 720 doesnt even cover the fog lamp...and also the 440 for the hood. i may be way off but I am just curious and nervous about spending this much money repairing the car

also with a 2002 s4, which parts can I use for this car? (i assume all b5 a4/s4/rs4 parts, correct?) sorry I don't intend to sound like a complete amateur here but I just want to make sure I do this all right with out wasting any cash. the blue book on this car is 15,800 (assuming excelent condition, obviously at this point mine isnt, so i assume around 13,500 is a low ball)

You could probably seek out most of those parts on your own... it will take some work, but you will save a lot of money in the end.

any suggestions as to where i should look other then the classifieds on these boards? i'm a little scared of ebay to be honest...but if you know a good dealer on there id be comfortable with that

Good time to take advantage on doing mods ie. rs4 bumper and grill, Vented CF hood, E codes.

Check out Shokan. They disassemble wrecked Audi's and have just about any Audi part imaginable.

I can get most of those parts you need. I fix alot of damage cars so I get wholesale prices on parts. Let me look in to it & post back.

alot of those parts look overpriced. you can def find alot of them for a better price. check out shokan like everyone else says, and see what lilstev can do for you. i personally wouldnt have that shop do the work, but then again, i do alot of work on these cars by myself. good luck

I dont know the labor rate in Seattle but here body and paint time you only get $35 an hour thats all the insurance companies will pay sometimes $40

I don't know man, for my time, with the amount of work that car needs to be "fixed", I'd be shopping for a different one.

you can get a pair of NEW e-codes for $100 more than the one oe shit headlight they want to sell you.

check out junk yards, shokan, and the various vendors on AZ.

22 hours sounds extremeley high, and 12 hours to paint a car sounds very high too.
and like everyone else said, those prices suck.

find another shop.

lol, I'm not sure the price is HIGH it might be FULL Retail though... most are right here, replace with aftermarket parts unless insurance is replacing it, replace lights with upgrades, RS4 bumper, etc - all for marginally more money.

@ 9600$ though it's an insurance total... (unless you are paying out of pocket?)
