Anyone know where I can get a good writeup about an install for a CB, not really good with the electronics of the B6, and just electronic in general.

    Any help would be awesome!

    Re: CB Radio

CBs are awesome! I used it on several rallies and it saved our asses. Truckers can be very informative when it comes to "bear" on the road and in the skies....

The key is not the get the radio shack antennas...those are crap. I had one, and got rid of it, go to a truck stop and pick one up for way less. The antenna goes for $15 and the base for another $15. They're long antennas, but you need them and the key is to have someone tune them for you.

    Re: CB Radio

I too am interested in this CB write up. Does anyone have any experience with the Cobra 75wxst? It looks compact and would work well in the car without messing up the fit and finish.

Is there an etiquette for announcing yourself to passing trucks at high speeds? I was moving at a pretty good clip across Kansas and Colorado yesterday on I-70 and didn't have any problems but I think generally not tailgating or passing on the inside will keep you in the clear.

Because banning cell phone use has political capital. Going after CB users (read truckers) does not.

One angry truck driver can ruin your entire trip :( Better to be safe than sorry.

so are you saying that the safety "data" that the NTSB has on cell phones and driving is as true as a pink unicorn?

Oh I'm sure the data has merit. I see inattentive cell phone using drivers all the time (even though we have a law in CA now). But the reason the laws exist is because nearly everyone has a cell phone, and there was enough public interest for politicians to "do something about it." In a way, that's how politics is supposed to work.

On the other hand, how many accidents, mishaps, or near misses occur because some spilled a drink on themselves, dropped a sandwich, fiddled with the radio or nav system, talked to their passenger, or turned around to yell at their kids? The point is that driving takes a great deal of concentration, and there are many, many things that work against us when we drive. Making it more difficult to get a driving license by requiring much more stringent driver education would be a better start, I think, but that won't help a politician get reelected. See what I mean?
