    Re: cam chain tensioner question

if you want me to check when I get home i can. I have one completely out of a working engine I can test. I think your fine, those are just the guides that the chain spins on. Should be fairly hard to "break"

While we're on this topic. I'm building an AEB head right now and one of the little plastic guides on the tensioner is worn to a point where it will not stay on. Is there a way i can replace the plastic guides or do i need to replace the entire tensioner? Also, is there a place i can get the tensioner cheap? Mine has 80k on it so it isn't very used. It also costs a lot of money.

I replaced mine and I was actually able to remove the guide from the metal clips. I was pretty worried but it works fine and no noises.

any sludge buildup? if so its gonna be worth your time to drop the oil pan and atleast clean your oil pickup screen so it dosent clog up your oil pump
