    Silicone vacuum line

So I have done some searching on a few different forums and some basic internet searching but don't want to waste much time trying to find the answers. So I come to you guys who know your shit about building any forced induction vehicle. I am going to be replacing some of the vacuum lines on my car and I am using basic rubber vacuum line which I have pressurized to pressures far beyond what they will ever see and they havne't blown. My question is do you guys use silicone vacuum line? I have read there are a few different grades based on how it is cured or something of that nature. Also how are you guys clamping the smaller lines that there aren't any type of screw clamp for? Regular one use clamps or zip ties. I have used zip ties in past with no problems but I am wondering if there are more secure ways. Thanks for your input.

The Audi 1-Time Use clamps work VERY well, you just need their special crimping tool

vaccuum lines tend NOT to come off after you put them on. Just make sure they're on tight and past the nipple that holds them on. if you really want to be safe, zip ties work well. 3mm standard tubing works well enough. it's definitely a waste of money to buy silicone tubing.

Most of that silicon tubing is complete crap. I had the line to my wastegate blow apart on my GSX... Long story short 32 psi is fun, but not what you want to do. Just get the proper sized line, and some good properly sized clamps and you will be fine.

Intercooler hoses have blown off with clamps on them. It is very possible for vacuum lines to blow off. I am talking under boost. Obviously it would be impossible for them to blow off under vacuum unless something pulled them off.

    Re: Silicone vacuum line

For the money, high pressure silicone rubber fuel line is the best. Strong and durable.

The cheap non braided/reinforced silicone hose you can get at the local Canadian Tire or Pep boys in the blister packs is garbage.

The slightest nick and boost pressure will split it apart.

Also the throttle body gets very hot so be careful with placement of rubber hoses if you replacing lines off the top of your DV's.
