    Black and bronze rims?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My car is in the shop so I figured I might as well get my rims refinished and the fellas at the shop asked me if I wanted to powder coat them as well. This got me thinking about maybe getting the face in matte black and the lip powder coated bronze. I think it'll be something definitely different of which I've never seen done before. I need some input, good or bad idea? Will it match is more of a concern for me though, or how I can get it to flow with the rest of the car. Here's the car it's going to go on and the rims as well. They are DPE Ro5's variant S. Any input would be much appreciated.

Even the UPS trucks have that theme (black with silver/polished lips) Its been done over and over and it does not look good anymore. Everyone has alot of ugly cheap wheels with black and polished lips. His wheels are DPE's. He needs something cool!

The photoshop is actually pretty good for a 5 minute job but I think everyone is misinterpreting what I actually want to do. I've seen black with polished lip everywhere and I think it is just too common. What I actually want is to paint the FACE matte black, and powder coat the actual LIP bronze. Again let me reiterate, the spokes and face would be black, and the LIP ITSELF would be bronze. Feedback please. Otherwise I'm just going to refinish them and call it a day.

The dpe's are great, no regrets in purchasing them at all. I drive over lots of potholes in cali but still no wheel bends or any problems. The grill is actually made by oettinger but it is exactly identical to the ABT one. Can't help you on where to get it though, I bought mine off of a member a long time ago.

    Re: Black and bronze rims?

I think you should do it Definitely will be unique and I think it will look good. Only thing I would consider is the matte black face, just hopeing it won't be to flat, IMO I fell black rims look good with a bit of shine to them.

so you think gloss black would be better than flat black? Personally I don't tend to go for things that are flashy, I like simple clean looks better but I guess it is go big or go home right? I'll have to reconsider matte black for gloss black too I guess.

No man! Flat centers with gloss lips will look super good. Cause you can tell them apart from texture and color. I say your original idea with the flat black will be better

What about just painting the lips gloss black, or flat black face with gloss black lips.. What kind of grille is that by the way? I like it.

Time attack style has been done before as well. I'm trying to go for something different that will set me apart. I think I'm going to try it and get the matte black face with bronze lip and see how it works out. Either way if I hate it that much I can always get the powder coat taken off and redo it. After all taking the biggest risks has the best payout right? I guess either that or I can get royally screwed. Anyone have a good bronze color code or sample?

That actually doesn't look half bad haha. I appreciate the time invested in the picture, but yeah hopefully my original plan will turn out okay. I'll be sure to post pictures of the finished product hopefully in 2 weeks or so when my car gets out of the shop.
