    BT = Blown Turbo.....need a new one

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Yup.....after finally getting my car running properly....i noticed a decent amount of white smoke coming out of my exhaust. And now my turbo is not boosting.....so, once again, my car is parked up in my driveway with the car cover on (it seems to like sitting more than driving). The car felt GREAT for the time that it ran, but it has since fallen flat on its face.......Anyway, I'm taking this opportunity to go bigger . So I'm ditching the GT2871r and going for a T25 GT3071r-wg. This way, I won't have to change ANY of my hardware or my software, and I can just turn down the boost to be safe. Later down the road, when I throw in rods or build the bottom, I won't have to upgrade turbos...

I'm done buying used turbos, so I need to know where I can get one of these turbos for a good price (i.e. the cheapest possible). Also, I'm MAF-less, so I have the option of either going with a 2.75" or 4" outlet....I'm currently running an intake setup with my catch can routed to it, but I'm debating removing that and just running a screen over the turbo....is there any benefit to running a 4" over a 2.75" inlet?....if not, I'll just leave the intake alone

I'd PM mike and 713ssayzarc (i think those are the numbers) and see what they can get you. Mike has a pretty good price on his website for that turbo.

yea, i'm leaning towards it.....but, I'd have to buy some other new parts as well (new catch can to vent to the atmosphere, and a turbo screen)......I might do it, still not sure

The full kit is T3 flange, T25 is elim size.

    iirc, of course.

Re: BT = Blown Turbo.....need a new one

The full turbo is both T25 and T3 which refers to the flange on the manifold side of the exhaust housing.......the eliminator turbo's exhaust housing is similar to the stock turbo (in terms of its fittings), because it is intended to bolt up to stock hardware. i WAS running a T25 GT2871r....and I will be keeping the T25 plumbing and upgrading to a larger turbo

    and no....a K03 does not have a T25 flange

Re: BT = Blown Turbo.....need a new one

    I'm so confused!

So the T3/T25/T4 refers to the exhaust manifold flange, not the turbo flange? How do you categorize the turbo flange then?

Elim is a K03 style flange which is round with 3 bolts, the full Garrett turbos are 4 bolt and rectangular.

Do you mean the turbo exit flange??? Those are categorized as 4-bolt, Gt28 5-bolt, V-band, etc.

Re: BT = Blown Turbo.....need a new one

    One last question:
How bad is it to drive with a blown turbo? I've read that on a K03/k04 that if the seals go, the coolant and oil can mix. Is the same true for Garrett turbos?

The reason I'm asking is cuz I've gotta drive myself to physical therapy for the next few days. I likely won't be getting this new turbo until late next week. I've got 4 appointments coming up....

Kind of bad for the engine seeing that the blown turbo is now going to be a restiction causing more back pressure at the exhaust valves..
