    B5 Quattro 2.8 "Shake"

Hey guys, first post. found your forum from another forum.

So, the question I've had for a year and a half and about $2000.00 dollars now is:

    1. What would cause a shake at 55mph in the seat ( Not steering wheel )?
To me that would mean it's coming from the rear, right?

    Items replaced/checked...
    1. 3 sets of wheels road force balanced
    2. 2 wheel bearings
    3. All four axles
    4. Rebuilt transfer case
    5. 2 tie rod ends
    6. 2 alignments
    7. 2 front brake calipers ( not related )
    8. checked rear diff mounts
    9. all fluids changed

BTW: I know of two other A4's locally with the same issue, one is a 2.8 and the other is a 1.8T

    Thanks for your help.

I'd say rear mounts and/or tranny mounts

Yeah, I've put three sets of brand new wheels on it and still does it. Thanks for the thought though.

You said 3 sets of wheels. Do you mean the rims or the tires? A bad tire could easily cause this or a bent rim or just poor balancing. Mine shakes at around 75-80mph but its because my rear rims are not balance properly did the fronts right and half the shake is gone.

I have replaced all four axles, but have not messed with driveshaft other than rebuilding the transfer case. One thought could be that the indexing of the driveshaft could be wrong. I was hoping it wouldn't be that because it's a major pain in the......you get the idea.
