    i was driving home before and the battery light came on and i have 12 volts indicated on the dash. i scanned the car and got

    18010 P1602 Power Supply (B+) Terminal 30 Low Voltage VW
    power supply terminal 30: voltage too low
    p1602 - 35-10 --- intermittent

    I cleaned whatever corrosion was on the battery terminal and cleared the codes. Still have battery light and 12volts only. All my grounds look secure, does any one have a suggestion. Im really hoping its not the alternator as i just bought some coils :{

    try getting your battery load tested at vatozone. could just be a cell dying in your battery

    Re: 18010 DTC Code

    Sounds like an alternator.

    battery wouldnt matter when driving.. unless its completely toast.

    if your alternator is out and not pushing any voltage.. it will only show 12 volts(battery voltage) until that battery starts to drain. which will be soon.

    although i was able to drive about 30 miles on battery alone (daytime no radio.. no accessories on at all)

    go grab an oreiles alternator.. thats what i have.. been on for a year with no issues.. lifetime warranty

    Re: 18010 DTC Code

    Start it up. have it idle. take battery cable off while idling. if car stalls when you take battery cable off. it means there's something wrong with your altrnator.

    just by going off what you stated, I'm betting its the alternator

    Do NOT remove the battery cable while car is running!! Might have worked fine for your dads 84 citation, but not for any modern car.

    Yep pops did show this to me but we never had a chevy citation, they were butt ugly cars

    Anyway, I've never tried it on my car, havnt had the need, but what damage could it cause. just wondering.

    Still waiting for reason why not to try that way of testing alternator? Just for curious sake?
