I have the same thing. 04' usp 1.8t. mine is most noticeable when in 1st 2nd & 3rd gear. Example, i shift into second, give it some gas, and then I hear a rattling sound. same thing with 1st and 3rd. sound happens for like a quick second under intitial load, only happens when the car is warmed up and sometimes i can hear it when i start it in the morning but wont happen again until the car is warmed up. Ive heard that it could be the cat internals, i did just get the catlyst def code and dealer is replacing next week. hopefully its that. but not too sure, cuz the rattle sound has been going on for a couple years now. cat code just came up a few weeks ago. I also noticed that my heatshield under my turbo is a little loose, but I dont think it is the reason.

Help Strange Noise
Ok, I am having an issue with my car and I am stumped. Please help out… Here is the deal I have a 2005 1.8T USP with a K&N Air filter, EvoMS DV, APR 1+ chipped with Bosch TT injectors. When I accelerate in all gears the car seems to be making a cracking sound. It does it mainly when I get on it little and now it is mostly cracking all the time on acceleration. I took it to the dealer and they didn’t know what was wrong mainly because it isn’t throwing any codes or a CEL. Please help if you have any info… Thanks
