Informational video regarding 6-speed shifter adjustments from JHM

I made this video specifically for B6/B7 S4 and RS4 owners however the beginning is good info for all 6-speed cars. The rest probably won't help you guys since the B5 S4 is way easier to adjust.

But hopefully the first couple minutes have some good info for you to help you better understand how 1st, 2nd and reverse are adjusted.

Right on. I finally installed your shifter last week that I bought a while ago. I've got all the gears and 1-6 feels pretty good (about the same amount of swiggle room in each gear), but about half the time I can't get into reverse. It feels almost like when I push it down the bottom of the shifter lever is hitting the box and not letting it go far enough to easily engage reverse or something. I'll be doing some readjusting soon to see how much I can correct it.

Great shifter BTW! My old one was installed wrong so it had super crazy slop, night and day difference.

I will be interested to see if any of these help you Early B5 S4 owners since your bottom linkage piece of the shifter is straight unlike the angled bottom piece on the B5 S4 late and B6/B7 S4. So sliding it around I doubt will help your get it to adjust. However it may a little bit. It works great on Late S4s and B6/B7 S4s since the angled welded piece moving forward and mackward is like a ramp effect.

thanks guys and glad to keep the info flowing.

Yeah, I never rehearse and don't make scripts. I just pull up the camera and shoot. I don't have time for all that.

I've had your shifter for quite awhile now, and 1st and 2nd were always a little difficult to get perfect. I had reverse perfect, but 1st and 2nd did just what you were explaining. This video helped a ton and now reverse, 1st and 2nd are all so easy to get into to. Thanks!

Good to hear man. Then it was worth posting this up for you guys too. I think it helps only the late S4s with the angled bottom welded piece.
