    Suspension needs fixing

Long story short: I hit a curb on a freeway entrance and destroyed one of my rims...not a big deal since I have the rim replacement plan...but apparently the dealer tells me that there is something further wrong with my suspension.

Problems: When I make a sharp turn (going fast or slow) I hear either grinding or a clunk sound. When I am driving at anything more than about 40mph I hear a sound similar to having a flat but less pronounced...about once per tire revolution. Lastly, the dealer was able to tell me that my car is about 1 degree of camber (no idea what this means) and that it could cost me up to 3.5k to find out what is wrong

Does anyone have any ideas about what it is so that I don't have to pay the dealer 3.5k?

    Thanks.

P.S. rant: I took the freeway entrance at almost the same speed that I always take it however this time I was in 5th gear instead of 4th, where I usually am, but this time the car slid...apparently for quattro to work right you need to be in lower gears to keep the revs higher? It would have been useful if the manual or a salesperson had mentioned this to me (as I found this out from my friend after the incident).

Camber refers to how 'vertical' the tire is. In other words...if you're looking at the down the side of the car from the front or back are the wheels tilted out at the top(positive camber) or are they tilted in at the(negative camber) or are they vertical . My guess your wheels are tilted in at the top one degree.
Hope that makes sense. As for the grinding noise.....no way should you pay 3500 for them to look at it. Any suspension place could look at it for maybe a couple hundred. Tell the dealer to go f&*k themselves!

    Re: Suspension needs fixing

The tech gave me some talk about them having to replace each part until they found the right one because there was almost no way to look at the piece and tell if it was broken or not...I'm planning on taking it to a european car suspension place and see if they can find out what the problem is.

I went out for a drive in it to keep looking for problems and when I make a turn while going around 10-20 it makes a ticking noise (kinda like metal clicking against something) but when I just turn the wheel sharply to get into my driveway it makes more of a grinding sound (more pronounced ticking as well). If that helps at all.

    Thanks

You probably bent a control arm. The tech is full of it. Replace parts at random until they find out what's wrong? They must be looking for the dumbest possible customers. Find an independent shop that's not looking to rip off idiots.
