    Hello all,

new to the forum and the Audi/Euro car scene. Just sold my 04 SRT-4, so know a bit about turbos. just had a few questions and if i could get some pointers.

I was recommended to the Forum my a friend.

Here it is basically : i have a 99 A4 1.8T, which is completely stock.
What i want is a basic daily driver with a bit of kick. i heard the best way to go is, Chipped, Custom Exhaust, Intake, and Intercooled. not to sure with the Audis so just here for some advice. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Yes sir, you got it rite, take care of your maintainence first before you start spending money on mods, this question pops up like 5 times everyday, just STF before posting a new thread.

Anyways welcome to the Audi scene.

    Re: Few Questions

Get the timing belt, control arms, wheel bearings and the basic maintenance checked or done then proceed with the mods. Having the car in good running condition does a lot. Also with a chip on the stock K03 you'll want an aftermarket diverter valve. Most people like The Forge 007, some have used APR's R1. There are other's as well, all around the same price. Otherwise your stock one is bound to fail under the added boost. After that your good to go!

    Welcome to the scene!

    Re: Few Questions

Well ebay is definitely the cheapest route, and lots of people love those intercoolers but personally i wouldn't put anything from china on my car. Check out racetec intercoolers. Also consider a boost gauge and DV, if you want the BOV sound you can make the DV go pshhh with a cone filter replacing the airbox

    Re: Few Questions

Ebay intercooler kits are pretty cheap - Godspeed makes a kit with piping for like $350 shipped on ebay and from what I have read they are pretty rad for the money. And as far as a BOV, it used to be a pretty debated subject, but forge came out with a BOV that works very well with the 1.8t application. Forge 004, I have it and am a big fan of it. I have a 007 on standby when I get sick of it. Make sure you use the billet plug that they provide in the kit.

    Re: Few Questions

You got it right on the ebay intercooler. Many go with either a GodSpeed or a CX Racing one. They can be had for fairly cheap. But if you want quality, the Greddy, Precision, Racetec, or Evolution Raceworks is the way to go (there are others such as Forge, but these seem to be the most liked). Many run the ebay FMIC with no complaints.

And as for the BOV, there are those whom would advise to run a dv instead unless you have a bigger turbo application. But there are others whom have BOVs on thier stock turbos with no issues. For a dv, Forge is liked by most (006 for louder and 007 for quieter). But there are others such as Bailey's, APR, etc. And for a BOV, you would need to search the threads to see which one is liked most.

    Re: Few Questions

That seems to be the common answer. I think im going to go Godspeed. Im not looking to upgrade the turbo. just trying to make about 215-220 HP as daily driver. I know im asking alot but since people are replying, which chip would be best? im hearing Unitronic.. I think thats how you spell it. and wheres the best place to find it?

    Thanks again!!

    Re: Few Questions

When it comes to tuning, many would say to go with whatever is closest. But the concensus on the B5 chipped k03(s) is to go GIAC (don't go Revo, and APR has some slight negative reviews. but this is for the B5 only). That was until people started using the Unitronics and loved it. I would say go Unitronics because if you ever want to go with a bigger turbo application, you can upgrade your tune with them . I am doin the same thing with CTapp tune. But he has a distributer maybe an hour drive from my residence.

    Locate Unitronic Dealer
