Just like the title states, what do you guys use to clean the exhasts after turbo failure and all the oil that inside. Lot's of brake cleaner?? Just run it out?

I'll be pulling my motor out in a week or so and need to find out. I will be doing my clutch and gutting my cats at the same time.

after i did a boost leak test and got a bunch of oil into my exhaust, i found lots of redline driving did the trick of cleaning it out.

Re: Best way to clean exhaust after turbo failure

i had my drivers side exhaust impellar and shaft snap off and dump about a quart of oil into my pipes. Just went stage III and still smoking after a week. Only when the exhaust is hot and when im at a light somewhere. My guess being when i stop some of the oil swishes forward a little onto the hotter piping

is a week.. or 200 miles of in city mild driving too long to burn off a quart of oil? lol...

Re: Best way to clean exhaust after turbo failure

I'll just ride it out than. i cant really be redlining because of the new clutch that needs to be broken in. I'm not sure which turbo went out but most than likley it's the drivers side because it's been making noise for a while now and last night it just blew. It's pretty bad because there was oil dripping out of the exhaust tips and it was smoking like a train.

For now i'll buy some used turbos in good condition that can last me untill summer so i can save up for an upgrade. I don't mind the labor since i work as a mechanic and have a lift and all the tolls for the job.
