    Boser Hood ?

I am looking into getting a Boser hood but I don't want to use hood pins. I know without hood pins c/f hoods can fly up but I did some searching and I didn't find anyone without hood pins to give me insight. Has anyone's hood flown up as a result of not using pins? Is anyone not using pins and having no problem?

For those of you that have one without pins are you using other methods to ensure it doesn't fly up?

    Re: Boser Hood ?

On my cf hood, i ran it without hood pins for about 2 years without any problems, but after seeing a friends hood fly up on him on the freeway doing 80mph+, i went and picked up a set of aero hood pins right away. Its possible that some will never have a problem with the hood flying up on them, but for me i'd rather spend the $90 on hood pins then have to replace a $500+ hood and any other damages to my car or someone else's vehicle or it possibly injuring whoever is driving behind me

Why don't you just have a competent shop just make you a metal extension for your OEM hood? Then you don't have to worry about hood pins or your hood flying up.

    Re: Boser Hood ?

I don't have a boser but i'm assuming all the stock mounting is the same. I had a carbon creations hood on my B5 only using the stock latch and never had a problem even with 120+ mph speeds on many occasions everything was fine.

I have a fiber images one on my B6 and haven't had any problems for the past year and a half, had it around a 110 a few times with no problems.

If I were to put them on I would definitely use the latch type though, they have a much nicer look.

    ^^^ haaaaaaaa

    2 things:

look at the mechanism that's locking ur hood... if u still think u need hood pins - ur choice.. im feelin pretty safe..

and even eurogear said AS A... how u say it.. preprocaussion.. or something... the pins are needed, BUT, many people never got em and never had problems.. me personally ive taken my car to 140 once, no problem.. and i spend an hour every day on freeway going 70-80 and it doesnt even seem shaky...

sooooo, up to you.. i dont see how it will fly up, unless something fails in lock mechanism when closing the hood..

    oh fak....... winter is coming...

    ............. ....... maybe get them pins..... ?..

    Re: Boser Hood ?

It's not the price of hood pins that bothers me. I just don't like the way they look on Audis.
