    Flywheel question

I'm in the process of getting my new SB Stg.1 clutch installed today, and my dad's mechanics said they got the stock clutch apart, and they said they can try to send my flywheel out to be resurfaced, but they are worried that there is too much play in the housing where the flywheel is. I guess it's too thin or something. They said 1/4 inch or 1/2 inch of play is acceptable but they said my flywheel has almost an inch of play which they are worried is too much, and so they said they will send it out to be resurfaced and tested but they don't know if it's gonna be worth putting back in or not.

They said its because our cars often have to have the flywheels replaced. I said i thought about 90% of the time with our cars people just have the flywheel resurfaced unless they have the money or have no choice. So I told them to have it resurfaced and the resurfacing guy will tell them whether he thinks it's ok or not. I dont really have the money for a new flywheel, so I guess i'll see what happens maybe i'll have to get a used resurfaced one but hopefully this one works out ok.

Anybody clutch-knowledgable guys have any thoughts on this?

    TIA
    -Nick
