What rotor is better and why Slotted/Cross-Drilled Rotor or just Slotted rotors?

    Re: Rotor?

from what i heard crossed drilled tend to break. i would go with blanks, more surface area and a more aggressive pad

    Re: Rotor?

i heard slotted will eat away at your pads, but i could be wrong on that.

im on my second set of zimmerman cross drilled fronts, no cross drilled in the back, and i love them.

    Re: Rotor?

You'll want to stick to dimpled, IMO.

Dimpled are better than drilled because you retain the rigidity of the rotor, while getting good heat dispersment from the dimlpes.

If you want even more agressive breaking, go for slotted as well.

Not all Rotors are made the same. Must cheap rotors are made in china. Some are made in Canada. Then some like GSG are made in German. We have never had one crack rotor. Then again we use state of the air CNC and don't drill our holes overly big. Also our rotors come stamped on the hub GSG so not be confused with a cheaper brand. But to answer your question it depends on the type of driving you do. Both are good.

    Re: Rotor?

in ancient times, and sometimes today...drilled rotors would crack when over heating. I remember hearing that at one time brembo rotors would crack from the back of the rotor not very visible and was very dangerous.

If you get low quality rotors that are drilled, be very careful if you plan on tracking your car, but for the city I would highly doubt your rotors would get that hot for it crack unless you run over a large puddle after doing some spirited driving.

slotted rotors, have a better reputation for not cracking.

I personally like cross drilled/slotted and never had a problem and I cheaped out and went with some ebay rotors...it could just be your luck or maybe I lucked out with good quality.

Once, my rotors go out GSG will have a phone call =D

    Re: Rotor?

I have zimmerman cross drilled in the front now, but I guess I am going with the zimmerman slotted.

    Re: Rotor?

I think dimpled and slotted are good and sturdy
