Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was wondering if there was any way that i would be able to put a turbo onto my 1999 a4 2.8L quattro. i dont think that there a kit out there (thats what a lot of people are telling me) so i was just wondering. If there is a kit i would LOVE!!! to know. Other people are telling me that this car isnt very tunable so im not likeing that so much but i appreciate all the feedback.

There is PES supercharger-kit available for 2.8, but no turbocharger-kits.
But i did it putting S4 2.7 biturbo in my 2.8 A4. I dont think it costs more than installing turbo/s in 2.8.

I really hate to say it, 2.8 30Vs are great but if you want to mod, 1.8T is pretty well the only way to have fun

    Re: Turbo on 2.8L???

It's been done, it's possible with ~90% OE parts (S4/RS4 parts) and not really worth the time.

What you could do though, S4 guys want your heads (2.8L 5V) b/c of the compression drop. You could do an exchange and pick up some compression instead. N/A tuning is still cool, add some good exhaust and maybe some chemical additives (N2O) and you'll have a "Terd" that'll walk most chipped MK4's

    Re: Turbo on 2.8L???

there isnt compression difference iirc, i think the big difference in the heads is the more aggressive cams and better flow characteristics.

wouldn't be any gains for him to use 2.7 heads, he could maybe swap the 2.8 heads for a 2.7 block.

    Re: Turbo on 2.8L???

why dont u be different and piece together a kit using the single turbo ideas that s4 owners are doing now...or do a gt setup on the 2.8 just build the block first. with the right amount of time and money anything is possible

    Re: Turbo on 2.8L???

if your going to do this, i would recommend just swapping in a whole 2.7t- the short block is better- they beefed up the mains with more bolts. If the heads are anything like 1.8t's, then the exhaust valves aren't sodium filled in the n/a application. In other words, I would use at least an s4 short block, by the time you buiilt up the 2.8 short block with lower compression pistons, etc- it still wouldn't be as tough.

    Re: Turbo on 2.8L???

In the end it propably will cost more than org S4, i know that my did, and does take money all the time. So, best idea is sell your A4 and buy an S4, it saves you from a lot of pain. If you know what i mean, wise man would do so.. :)
