does the premium package now come with LEDs?

Might be a dumb question but I was fooling around at audi's website and it looks like the LEDs are standard now.... which is good for me because I didn't want to have to pay 4k for things I'd never use just to get the LEDs...

I am waiting around for the manuals to start coming in but this looks promising because if so and the manual is cheaper - which it should be especially if the rumor of it being front wheel drive is true - I can get the audi I want with only the options I want for low to mid thirties, not mid to high thirties which is when it's pretty much used 335 time LOL...

Re: does the premium package now come with LEDs?

I had the same question when I went to order my avant. the 'build your own audi' section on their website showed a pic of the LEDs next to their 'daytime running lights' standard option. This is misleading.

This is what the premium headilghts look like. The section marked in red contain the DRLs. They aren't that bright, or even white like the LEDs, and they kinda look incomplete because the hazard lights take up the space to the left of it. I personally think they look better than the prestige when both are de-energized, but nothing really compares to the LEDs when both are on.

Still, I refused to shell out 4000 bucks for the overpriced package. It was obvious the marketing guys over at Audi lumped a bunch of crap in with the LEDs knowing people want the upgraded headlights so badly. Anyways, the plan is to wait and see if I can possibly buy the prestige lights separately and have them installed.

Ok i pulled this pic from an older thread:

This is a premium model, notice the basic headlights. If there was a way to fill in that lower bar with LEDs (think A5 below), that would look nothing short of amazing in my opinon. Maybe even better than Prestige.

Well I guess its just a matter of personal preference. I happen to like the look of the A5 headlamps more than the A4 LEDs, which at times seem effeminate to me. I think the solid LED bars look more aggressive and are more visible, which is the point in the first place.

Re: does the premium package now come with LEDs?

I suspect that you went to audiusa.com and looked at the details of the Premium Plus and Prestige configurations, comparing the details of the two option sets. I just did the same thing, and noticed that both configurations show "Daytime Running Lights". If that is what you're looking at, then I think I might know the answer.

Recently, while hosting the ALMS hospitality event for the Audi Club at Laguna Seca, we were fortunate enough to have several different dealers leave cars with us for the 3 day event. One of the cars supplied seemed to have daytime running lights, but they were not LED. They appeared to be some kind of a running light bar, in nearly the same place as the LED running lights, but not as distinct, or aesthetically appealing.

So, this may answer your question. Sorry I did not think to look at the lights in more detail, and I'm working from memory, but that's how I remember it.
