I had never seen the internals of a turbo, so I figured you guys might wanna check it out. I planned on changing over to a full setup but the funds are way too tight right now. I ordered a CHRA and it will be here tomorrow. I should be up and running by 1pm.

    - It was actually very easy to remove the CHRA from the housings.
    - If anyone knows of any precautions that I should take while installing the new CHRA chime in.

look at his other thread on it i'm too lazy to look it up. i'm actually glad you can fix it for less than the cost of a new turbo

tighten the bolts a little at a time staggered so you dont tighten it in cockied. You can cause the blades to hit up against the walls if you arent careful and it will not spin.

I have the compressor wheel from a blown k03-25 screwed to the wall in my garage. It's a nice little addition and I spin every so often. If you can't have that chra rebuilt or can't sell it I suggest you add it to the wall.

Looks like the compressor wheel just needs to be replaced which a turbo builder can do, unless the wheels no longer spin.

    Re: Gt71r Chra

well I finally started but had to stop to go to work(security detail).
    - But like everything else, with these damn Audi's problems come in 2's
while installilng my turbo and tightening down the 3 bolts that hold it in place and bam 2 of the bolts tighten then strip. Now they are stuck in the turbo !

    Re: Gt71r Chra

No, I just ordered a new CHRA. I will be calling him to see about putting a new wheel on old CHRA.

What do propose I do about the stripped bolts ? Ideas ?

    Re: Gt71r Chra

You stripped the heads, is that what you mean? Try using a different wrench like bang an american size on it that is slightly smaller than the metric, or did you strip it with an american when you should have been using a metric? You could then do the opposite and bang a metric on it.

No the bolts are in the turbo and spinning slighty freely. I have tried to remove them, but all they do is spin

    Re: Gt71r Chra

if they just spin you should be able to put a pair of pliers on it and pull it straight out.

i stripped the housing with the two bolts that hold down the actuator plate/bracket. just went to the hardware store and got two new ones that were slightly longer since the ones the GTRS came with were only biting the first few threads.
