    Smile new 08 a4 question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am shopping for a new 08 a4 and have a newbie question. This will be my first audi. The sales man let me test drive 2 different cars. the first was a 6 speed automatic with floor shift. The second was a 6 speed automatic trans with paddle shifters on the wheel. My question, is there any difference between the transmissions as far as preformance is concerned. the sales guy said they where the same. I never trust the sales guy and I know you guys know from experience. By the way I'm hooked- audi's rock.

Any other advice on which car with mods to buy is appreciated.

    thx

Hahaha....yes they are the same transmission. I assume the one with paddle shifters was an s-line, meaning it has sport suspension, S4 appearance items, 3-spoke wheel, etc.

Actually the Auto and MT6 are very similar in the performance aspect, with high HP cars would stick with a Manual

He's asking strictly about the tiptronic tranny, whether there is any difference in transmission with or without the paddle shifters

    Re: new 08 a4 question

It depends if you went tiptronic and it was 7-speeds that was a CVT or multitronic with frontrak front wheel drive. All other automatics are quattro. I actually quite liked the CVT when I drove one. I'm still at manual guy though.

Well, sure if you drive to shift gears, the CVT (or any automatic) is junk. If you just like a nice ride, the CVT is fine. Don't mind the haters!

    Re: new 08 a4 question

When i felt the tiptronic 6spd shift it felt more sporty than the cvt to me. Do you guys feel the same?
