    DTM Bumper and fogs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
The DTM bumper doesn't have a provision for fogs, so won't it throw a bulb out warning of some sort when the fogs aren't connected? What's to procedure to avoid this from happening? Resistors, vag com, etc?

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

Depends on whether you have a color DIS. No color... no problems.

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

    DIS? sorry, what is that?

So if I don't have it, I just simply leave the fogs disconnected?
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for you bumper cover and lower grills? (Not including center since the stock a4 one can fit that right? and also not including the lip)

    Wrong.

No colour ---> problem that I have disconnected one of my fogs for an air intake...

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

So how do I fix said problem?

Also, the DTM is a perfect fit right with no modifications necessary?

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

Wrong? Lol... thanks for the input based on a completely different car, but since I personally have 1) a US spec car with 2) a DTM bumper and 3) disconnected fogs and 4) a monochrome DIS with 5) no bulb-out warning, I am many things - but, on this topic, "wrong" is not one of them.

Delta, DIS is the information display screen between the speedometer and tach. If you have the nicer color DIS, you'll have to deal with a bulb-out warning. If it's monochrome, unless you have the only 1.8t Euro spec B7 A4 in New Jersey, chances are your experience will more closely mirror mine. Take your pick whose opinion you value; in the interest of full disclosure, however, I sadly do not have any carbon fiber stickers on my car.

I don't remember what I spent for the DTM bumper specifically, you can find the part numbers and approximate prices on Audiworld. The non S-Line grill will fit, but I bought a blackout grill to go along with it.

either way good choice on the DTM . I think I've only seen ONE fog retrofit, but it didn't look OEM and it didn't look that hard.

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

Yeah, I was going S-Line, but I'd end up paying a lot more since my insurance company was saying how I don't have an S-Line, so they'll cover the bumper, but not for the center grill, lower grill, and fogs. Atleast with the DTM, I can use my current center grill (for now) and only have to pay for the lower grills. which is only about 200 at most for all 4 lower pieces. Obviously I won't include the splitter as that in itself is basically the price of the whole bumper and grills combined.

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

Your insurance company should provide a set figure for reimbursement for replacing the bumper including basically dealer retail prices. If you go to the trouble to source those items yourself, find someone to paint them, etc. chances are you will come in under that estimate anyway.

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

I could do that, but it's already at the shop (car was towed there due to bent wheel) and they have already started working on the car). It's partly the shop that's giving me a hard time as they seem to work too honestly. For example, the bumper was damaged, but also had a previous damage beforehand. Instead of claiming to the insurance that the bumper needs to be replaced, he also mentioned how there was previous damage to it (very little mind you) so I will end up paying 20% of the bumper cover price to offset the previous damage that was done.

Btw, where in jersey are you? I haven't been to any meets and would like to hear an AWE exhaust in person.

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

You aren't obligated to have any shop do the work. That is absurd that they would mention 'previous damage' like that. I bet it's one of your insurance company's recommended shops and they get kickbacks for stuff like that.

when I had my A4 I hooked them up behind the bumper. Its easy. I just made to drill holes enough that i could get 1 1/2 screw into the bumper.

    Wooow...hadnt seen your answer there...
I cant really understand why you took it so personal...and started making fun of my car..You can laugh at it as much as u like, that is your own right, but being here to help is what I am trying to do...

And watching you being so certain that NO car with a monochrome DIS makes out an error, really makes want to post that this IS WRONG...

If you wrote that this ONLY happens in US spec cars, then YES, you would be right...And I wouldnt have said that...
    But you are wrong...
Cause imagine a member gets in, searches, and finds this thread..
he doesnt have to be from the States you know...
There are people from all over the world in this forum in case u didnt know...
And he's like, ok I wont get a warning...but guess what, he does...

The solution is from vag-com, but in my edition I cant get in the channel that rosstech says I should...i will try it again...

Again, I was trying to help believe it or not

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

I hardly "took it so personal". I thought it was funny that you called me "wrong" when that was not the case. The original poster has a US-spec car, I have a US-spec car, and the information was clearly intended in that regard. Perhaps it's a language barrier thing, but I would recommend in the future you respond more along the lines of "that may be true in the US, but..." rather than "wrong" lest you elicit a similar response.

If someone came through Audizine (a far more US-centric Audi forum than many others) searching for this information and didn't take into account the fact that this is US-spec experience and different specification cars for different markets can, in fact, differ - well, I am not going to add a disclaimer to everything I post from this point forward clarifying that I have not, in fact, verified this works on cars sold in the Czech Republic, Peru, or Malaysia. If you were looking for instructions on removing a dashboard and found them on a UK website, would you maybe think it through and take any potential differences into account?

    Re: DTM Bumper and fogs

To answer your question about the price of the bumper and parts here is a list and a link that explains the parts....you can get the S4 bumper and get grills with built in fog lamps too...
    8E0-807-681-J-Z9Y Grille …51.34
    8E0-807-682-J-Z9Y Grille …51.34
    8E0-807-077-B Trim …29.82
    8E0-807-078-B Trim …29.82
    8E0-955-275-E-GRU Cap …11.35
    8E0-955-276-E-GRU Cap …11.35
    8E0-807-105-AA-GRU DTM Bumper Cover…346.00
(This is minus the carbon fiber front lip but you can get that for a lot less not at the dealership IMO)

PM me if you want the parts diagram because I have no idea how to get the link to work its a PDF file...hope this helps anyway.
