crashed 02 S4 -- guesstimate the repair cost?

i got a 2002 s4 and my friend borrowed the car and long story short it was crashed. The front end is pretty bad, the hood/grill is pushed back up to the engine. The radiator is fucked as it is bent in about 1-2 inches and was leaking pretty bad. I was able to drive the car a few blocks back to my apartment to park it. The front right headlight is smashed, and obviously the bumper is as well. Any of you have a good idea about how much this repair will cost? I know its just a guess but yeah..I'm taking it in tomorrow to a repair shop and going to get a formal estimate but I'm just nervous at the moment. I will try to get a picture up in a little bit but who knows...I'm thinking tops like $5-6 g's (never had to repair an audi)...but I'm just nervous as hell right now...thanks for the help

Sorry to hear that. Did you punch your friend in the mouth a few times to make yourself feel better? And is he paying for everything or is the insurance company involved? Hopefully there's no frame damage.

moral of the story.. you drive your car! not friends..

wow.. hood's even crushed up.. it ain't going to be cheap that's for sure. front bumper, radiator (?), A/C in front of radiator, headlight(s), grille... and that's basically just cosmetic stuff. hope you dont need any other stuff (ic shrouds/intercoolers, bipipe if the radiator got shoved back and cracekd them.. hope everything works out well

also i dont think there is any frame damage..the bumper is barely cracked (slammed on brakes apparantly, and went under the other car so to speak...so the damage hit the grill, not where the frame is)

under the bipipes/ front of the heads.. they're just plastic covers over teh timing belt. if it's cracked, it could mean that your timing belt/ pulleys are messed up

wait the black plastic cover infront of the engine (its about 2-3 inches wide)? -- sorry I am very new to audis...anyways that is pretty much intact except on the front right side (where the blunt of the damage is) -- part of it is cracked off

I had a similar incident (damage wise) and it ran $5k. There was no damage to the engine but the lock carrier, hood, grill, headlight, bumper, ac condensor, radiator were replaced. Oh and windshield.

ok i put the information into my estimate program here at work. now this is based on what you told me, plus i added replace AC condenser and evacuate and recharge system, seeing how that sits in front of the radiator. now its very possible theres radiator support damage (core support) too but assuming theres not and there is no frame damage the total came to $3175.71 on my computer. so give or take some depending on the area you live in. oh and just so you know i did all the parts as OEM parts not aftermarket except for the hood i believed i used keystone. but they do a pretty damn good job at reconditioning parts IMO

It's hard to tell without seeing it in person, but I'd say you're in the neighborhood of 3,500-4,500 assuming there is no frame damage.

haha at least you're honest with us..
as far as time goes, anywhere from a week to 2 weeks depending on where you go and how much you want to pay. if you want it done sooner you'll probably have to pay more. if you get a bumper that's prepainted it will take less time. If you saw a thread about the guy with the 350z that went to a shop to get a body kit installed/painted took like a month and was supposed to take two days.

You're probably looking at a good 5-7k in damage. I should know. I just got in an accident almost completely similar to that. If you have allstate, it should be a little cheaper because if most if you didnt know already, they use USED parts to fix your cars when going through insurance. Most reputable bodyshops wont take used bullshit since they dont like having to refit shit that may not fit correctly the first time. The passanger side head light still looks tits to me, so you might have a gimpy light once you install the new driver side light. Again, mine is the same thing. Minor scratches n shit like that can be buffed out so most likely if theres slight scratch damage if at all to the passenger side headlamp, no harm done. It'll look gimpy (light output) considering one will be all grey-ish compared to the new one, but you'll be easier to spot if you're being followed by a buddy! ;)
